“I had an incredible trip with 2 friends hiking Kilimanjaro in end May 2022. We chose the Machame Route and we did it in 7 days. I highly recommend this route and local travel expert! I was extremely impressed with the professionalism of the office staff and the guides on the trail. The attention to detail and personal safety far exceeded my expectations (our pulse and oxygen levels were measured twice a day). The views, physical challenge, and feeling of accomplishment will continue to be memorable! In addition -- the guides were extremely personable and pointed out many points of interest along the climb. Our chef (Thomas) was unbelievable he provided tasteful and plentiful meals. The porters were enthusiastic and took care of all our needs. We encountered rain on 4 of our days and our guides helped us know how to handle it (and remain positive!). Be sure to follow the guidelines with rain gear and packing instructions. The office staff answered all our questions and provided great guidance to help us prepare for the trip. Every promise that was made to our group was fulfilled and all logistics were handled seamlessly. “Where do I start! this tour operator is just what you need to get the most out of Tanzania. We worked with Naick who made sure our climb Mt. Kilimanjaro and experience a Safari was flawless. The operator provided the best hotel, guides, vehicles, cooks, porters; all at an affordable price. The organization for the trip was easy as Naick provided us with a detailed confirmation and itinerary. All of our travel questions were answered promptly and we were picked up from the airport right on time. This company goes above and beyond the rest. Our Mt. Kilimanjaro guides Bakari and Matthew were the best we could hope for. During the toughest weather and terrain they made sure we had everything we needed. They pushed us and took care of us. Our gear, provided by the tour operator, was top-notch and allowed us to safely summit. Our guides were extremely knowledgeable, both with the Mt. Kilimanjaro climb as well as the safari with our guide Chris. We were able to see almost every animal the Serengeti has, and our guide made sure we had the best views. “Although not technically hard, Kilimanjaro is by no means an easy hike. Even without headaches and nausea, the decrease in appetite and increasing difficulty to fall asleep at high altitudes wears one out. For me there was an extra layer of hardship as I unexpectedly caught a cold prior to the hike, which got nasty as the trip went on. There was no way I could’ve summited without the amazing crew who supported me at every step. Dixon was our guide. He had 20+ years on Kili with 200+ summits under his belt, and that experience showed — I felt reassured as long as Dixon was in sight. Chengo, our assistant guide, was like a big brother, who always cheered us on along the hike. James, our porter+waiter, was the best service worker I have ever known. He was attentive to the smallest detail and genuinely cared about our well-being. The strong ginger tea that he got me every morning and evening greatly alleviated my cold. I cannot thank him enough. Not going to name everyone here, but the team was a true dream team. If there is one thing I wish I brought to the hike, that would probably be energy gels, especially for the summit night. Due to the lack of appetite I simply couldn’t get enough calories. Gaiters / masks would also be nice adds for dust protection. If you do decide to come, please make sure to Google / ask Noel for the tipping guide ahead of time. The price of the hike isn’t cheap, but after park fees (almost $1K/trekker for 7-day lemosho route), not much is going to the crew. So your tip will be a substantial amount of income for the porters and they depend on it. If I were to name a potential improvement, I hope there will be more health/safety checks. I don’t know what the procedure should be like, but the little device that checks heart rate and blood oxygen level (which didn’t always work) seemed a bit insufficient. After learning from the crew that people who failed to summit usually tipped poorly, I couldn’t help but think that the team might also be incorrectly incentivized. Safety should always come first. Overall I’m really happy that I picked the the 7-day Lemosho route which was breathtakingly scenic and offered a great acclimatization profile. The private tour also offered us much greater flexibility to tweak the schedule to best suit our needs. It was truly a once in a lifetime experience and I highly recommend Dixon’s team!”
