Other Practical InformationAccommodation on EBC Trek Package: EBC Trek Package Include 3-star hotel in Kathmandu At the start and end of your trek, all of your accommodations on the Everest Base Camp Trek are likely to be at tea houses with cozy and comfortable rooms. Most single rooms include twin beds and simple furniture such as a small table or chair. Normally, beds contain pillows and sheets. Because it will be cold at night, almost all tea houses will provide blankets. There is also a shelf, coat rack, and hooks, though some teahouses don’t have them. In the highlands of Nepal, you’ll get very basic kinds of toilet facilities. Other Amenities at Tea Houses ● Cold showers on the Everest Base Camp trip are free, while hot showers cost a few dollars. Depending on the trekking altitude, the cost would be between $1 and $3. ● Another important aspect of the EBC journey is charging your gadgets. Some tea shops charge between $2 and $3 per hour to charge your smart gadgets. Luckily. ● If you wish to stay connected while trekking, you can get a prepaid Data SIM card. Food on the Everest Base Camp Trek: You can make sure that all of the trekkers will have a huge appetite. EBC teahouses serve decent food when it's time to have your meal. ● Dal Bhat: Dhal Bhat is the most popular dish in EBC.It consists of rice, tortilla, pickle, lentil, and curry. ● Some tea houses serve eggs, fries, pizza, and noodle soup. ● Shyakpa (Sherpa Stew): A classic favorite of sherpas in Nepal that’s a broth with cut potatoes, carrots, and other root vegetables. Travel visas and permits: Some nationals of specific countries are allowed to enter Nepal without a visa, but most travelers will require one tourist entry visa for Nepal, often provided in advance or upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport. Permits are required for the Everest Base Camp Trek; however, there are restrictions on the number of guests teahouses can accommodate (so it’s important to book early), and you will pass through some regions and conservation areas that require visitors to obtain special passes, but no need to worry as we will handle all of the details for you. Simply make sure that your travel documents and necessities are still valid. There are two crucial documents that we will secure for you for the Trek to Everest base camp: ● Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality permit ● Sagarmatha National Park Entry Permit ● Trekkers Information Management System (TIMS) Best time for Everest Base Camp Trek: There are two main seasons for trekking to Everest Base Camp in Nepal. Pre-monsoon season from March to May is the best time to trek Everest Base Camp since the weather is nice and sunny. But Trekking is very popular during the post-monsoon season, which lasts from September to December. December to February is the low season as the snow temperatures during these are colder up to (-4℃) in the middle of the winter season, and that is the temperature of Namche Bazaar, which is one of the lowest points on the trek. As the tea houses are made from plywood it is not ideal for overnight Trek. Completing EBC at this time is certainly impossible. How hard is the trek? The Everest Base Camp (EBC) trek is considered difficult, but your fitness level, experience, and preparation all play a role. Here are some things to consider while determining the difficulty of the EBC trek: ● Altitude: The EBC trek takes you to high heights, with the base camp itself at roughly 5,364 meters (17,598 feet). Acclimatization is essential to avoid altitude sickness. ● Duration and Distance: The EBC journey normally takes 12-14 days and covers around 130 kilometers (80 miles). The daily walking distances can vary, but you should expect to walk for more hours each day. ● Weather: Weather in the Everest region can be unpredictable, especially during the winter and monsoon seasons. Cold temperatures, strong winds, and occasional snowfall can make the trek difficult. Drinking Water Facilities during the Everest Base Camp Trek: Drinking water is easily available in the taps during the trek. The best option is to carry reusable water bottles along with the purification tablet as mineral water is expensive in the higher altitude. Acclimatization: Acclimation days are kept on the trek to adapt to the altitude. During the Everest base camp trek, 2 days are kept for acclimatization. One day of acclimatization is kept after reaching the Namche Bazaar, and the other is kept in Dingboche. so that you can adapt to the altitude. Travel Insurance: Travel insurance is for your safety. It's financial protection that makes sure that you’re covered for unexpected events during the journey
QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS Find answers to the most frequently asked questions about this tour.
  • How much money do I need to bring with me?

Your personal budget obviously depends on your spending habits and what is included in your trip cost. If accommodation is included, but meals are not, we would suggest that you bring around 30 USD per day per person for meals. Having a hot shower or charging your device sometimes costs extra. There are also sometimes small crafts/souvenirs to buy along the trekking route which you may want to bring extra money for. Also, consider whether you would be staying in Kathmandu or Pokhara before or after your trek.

  • What is the weather going to be like when I travel to Everest Base Camp?

The weather in Nepal varies by season. For example, November to January is the dry season with sunny days, clear skies and usually no rain. However, on Everest Base Camp, the temperatures at this altitude will be cold, particularly at night. February to May and September to October is the most popular time to travel to EBC, with usually fairly dry and stable weather, although there may be the occasional shower. June to August is monsoon season in Nepal, but once you pass 3,000 meters altitude there is less and less rain. Check out our guide on the best time to visit Nepal for more on specific monthly climate and seasons.

  • Is quarantine in Nepal in effect for arriving visitors?

There are no quarantine requirements in Nepal for arriving visitors at the moment.

  • Are there bag weight restrictions for the small aircraft flight from Kathmandu to Lukla?

Yes. The baggage weight allowance on the flight from Kathmandu to Lukla is 10 kg for checked baggage plus 5kg for hand baggage for a total of 15 kg. Bags overweight will be charged approximately USD 1 per kg over the limit.

  • How much should my backpack weigh?

A properly packed backpack (not including your day pack) should ideally not weigh more than 13 kg. It is also important to note that if you are taking a flight to the start of your trek, many smaller aircraft have weight restrictions. For example, if you are flying from Kathmandu to Lukla, you are only allowed 10kg of checked luggage, and 5 kg of hand baggage. Thus, in case of a small flight, you should ideally pack a 10 kg backpack for checked luggage, and then add 5 kg in your hand baggage. You can then re-shuffel the weigt once you start your trek at the trailhead.
