Mt Blanc Circuit - camping Camping and walking trip around Mt Blanc. Beautiful scenery, a great group of people and our guide - John and our camp manager Egle made everything extra special. Effort and speed of walking was very well managed. I don't think anyone felt that it required a major effort to keep up with the group but at the same time you knew that you had earned your meal at the end of the day! The ascents and descents bought a sense of achievement and of course always the reward of fantastic scenery. Each day provided different scenery and the always present mountains. It is truly an excellent trip - manageable but challenging walking with well paced days that had us covering appropriate distances, managing the ascents and descents but also time for coffee breaks, scenic lunch stops and afternoon tea breaks. The camping, tents, meals and facilities were all excellent and comfortable.
Our great guide, Musa, met us at our hotel and we left together with Seif who drove us around to see the most important sites pertaining to the slave trade on the main island. The sites were incredibly interesting to see but it was Musa's detailed explanations and discussion which really helped us out everything into context. We thank Musa for his excellent company, a gentleman of old :) We highly recommend this tour.
Wildlife and Wilderness in Botswana This trip exceeded our expectations - go if you can! We loved Botswana - its friendly people and its amazing wildlife. We saw elephants, hippo, many different antelopes, giraffes, buffalo, hyena, jackal, lions and even a leopard in a tree with its kill. We got closer to the wild animals than we had anticipated, which felt a real privilege. The birdlife was wonderful too. Do take the optional flight over the Okavango Delta - well worth it. We were lucky enough to see 4 rhinos from the air. Also, don't miss the Chobe River cruise.
