Vietnam Hiking and Trekking Tours 2024/2025

Vietnam is a lesser-known hiking gem in South East Asia, with plenty of trails that take you through the country’s scenic hinterlands, islands, waterfalls and jungles. Trek around the Sapa region, renowned for its golden rice terraces; journey to Cao Bang, where there are many caves and waterfalls to explore; or head to Chua Chan Mountain, a moderately challenging day hike offering panoramic views of Ho Chi Minh City. You can also combine your hiking tour in Vietnam with one of our adventure tours that include caving in the Phong Nha Caves and exploring the many islets and limestone karsts in the iconic Ha Long Bay.

I love Vietnam

  • Kanel
“I extremely enjoyed the itinerary and activities. It was only 14 days for my husband's schedule and I booked this package. It combines Vietnam and Thailand with many so funny activities. I was impressed with the cruise in Ha Long and had a good time there. Hotels were good and guides so outstanding. Thank you for all your help”

“I have just finished the Vietnam 17 day explorer and it surpassed even my greatest expectations! The itinerary was excellent, a great balance of fun activities and freedom to explore. I particularly enjoyed our 3 day exploration of Hoi An and stop over in Mui Ne to sandboard / quad bike. What really set this trip apart was our tour guide Lucas! Such a great asset for his company as he constantly brought such high levels of energy that rubbed off on everyone else. He’s very knowledgeable on Vietnamese culture and is able to answer any questions we may have had, which made me feel very comfortable and able to enjoy the trip that much more. Would highly recommend booking onto this tour!”

“Such a beautiful country, our tour was filled with so many fun activities and things to do however none of it would have been the same without Lucas as our tour guide.”

  • Uncover the world’s third-largest cave. Join a hiking tour in Phong Nha Ke Bang National Park and discover the mighty Hang En Cave, complete with a hidden beach to soak those tired feet.
  • Take on Vietnam’s highest peak, Mount Fansipan. If you want the ultimate Vietnam hiking tour experience, taking on the “Roof of Indochina” is a must.
  • Chase waterfalls along the rural Mai Chau on Vietnam hiking tours. In a countryside valley near Hanoi, you can hike to places like the Go Lao Waterfall and the stunning Hoa Binh Lake.
  • Visit the largest reclining Buddha statue in the whole of Southeast Asia. Enjoy the popular Ta Cu Mountain hiking tour and see a global landmark all at the same time.
  • Spot wildlife as you hike in Cat Tien National Park. Here, you can find monkeys, rare birds, elephants, wild boars, and more.
  • Meet local ethnic groups in the mountains while hiking in Vietnam. If you are in the mountain areas, you should take time to meet a variety of communities like the Hmong, Tay, Hani, Lahu, and more, all with their own unique culture and history.

Travel Tips for Hiking in Vietnam

  • Check if you need permits or permissions for certain trails before booking Vietnam hiking tours. Mount Fansipan requires permission from the Hoang Lien Son Range board of management, which costs around 200,000 VND (8 USD) per person.
  • Avoid trekking tours in Vietnam in the summer months, as it can get oppressively hot and humid.
  • Check for public transport availability to the trailhead to ensure you can get to and from your trailhead safely. Public transport in Vietnam is pretty good, but timings can be unreliable.
  • Consider joining a guided hiking tour. This way, you can safely hike around Vietnam while learning about the history and culture of the area from a local expert.
