Poonhill Trek - Overview
Poonhill lies at an altitude of 3,210 m and promises spectacular panoramic views of Dhaulagiri, the world’s 7th highest mountain at 8,167 m and Annapurna I the world’s 10th highest mountain at 8,091m, together with many other sky-reaching peaks. This relatively small hill in Himalayan terms provides awe-inspiring mountain views, making all the physical efforts worthwhile. The panoramic view of the Annapurna range from atop Poonhill is unmatched.
Enroute to the Poonhill trail you’ll be presented with sparkling streams, oak and rhododendron forests, traditional Nepalese villages, and many local teashops. Ghandruk, an antique and cultural village, is another point of interest where the culture and tradition of the Gurung ethnic group can be explored. You can see the beautiful Mount Machhapuchhre (meaning fishtail) really close from here. This mountain in the Annapurna range looks particularly striking because of its pointed profile that looks like a fish tail, despite only having an altitude of 6,903m.
