Cuba in April: All You Need to Know
April is generally considered one of the best times to visit Cuba. It is the end of the dry season and sits squarely in the shoulder season, so prices and crowds tend to be low. This is obviously with the exception of Easter week, where the festivities, especially around Trinidad, ramp up with the rates.
If you are touring Cuba in April, you can expect warm temperatures, long sunshine-filled days, and low levels of rainfall. It makes it the ideal time to hit up the beaches at Varadero or go and explore all the cultural sights around Havana.

Why Visit Cuba in April

- Better rates: Visiting Cuba during the shoulder season of April means plenty of deals when it comes to flights and accommodation. The obvious exception to this rule is during the Easter festivities.
- Lesser crowds: With the temperatures and humidity levels starting to creep up, there are way fewer crowds around the main tourist spots in Cuba, including the capital, Havana. This means you will be able to explore the sites and attractions at your own pace.
- International Cuban Dance Festival: There is nothing quite like the festive vibes of the International Cuban Dance Festival, which takes place in April. Dance along, see world-class performers, and have a great time in the heart of Havana.
- Semana Santa: If you are looking for a place to celebrate Easter Week, there is no better place in Cuba than Trinidad. The Way of the Cross Procession, which takes place on Good Friday, is a religious and cultural experience that you should not miss.
Where to go and what to do
Some of the best places to go in Cuba in April revolve around heading into nature for some amazing activities both in and out of the water.
In April, you can witness some of the best fish and sea life on the stunning coral reefs of Cayo Largo. The place is also famed for snorkeling and scuba diving, so it is well worth checking out during this month.
If you prefer to do your nature spotting on dry land, you should head over to the Gran Parque Nacional Sierra Maestra. This awesome national park is home to an amazing array of native birds. It is a twitchers paradise, so make sure to pack your binoculars and your camera.
April also marks the start of the sportfishing season in Cuba, and one of the best places to try your hand at it is the stunning Cayos de Villa Clara. Head out on a boat and get lucky by hauling in a tarpon or a billfish in the beautiful Cuban sunshine.
What to bring
