Travel Tips
- Reykjavik is expensive. Buy local food from grocery stores and cook your own food where possible. Take advantage of happy hours to save on alcoholic drinks.
- The bus service Straeto is cheap, reliable and easy to use within Reykjavik. After walking, it’s your best transport option.
- June to August are the most popular months to take a trip to Reykjavik, but are also more expensive. For budget travellers, May and September are good options.
- Don’t bother with bottled water - Iceland water is clean to drink.
