This 9-day trip to Ghana gets you across the country from the capital Accra to the historic castles and forts of Elmina and the relics of the Ashanti Kingdom in Kumasi. Your journey begins in Accra, pay a visit to see National Museum where various sculptures that talk about West African tradition and customs giving you an insight of West African history. Continue to Independence Square, where the Black Star monument immortalizes the nation’s independence from European powers. At the Arts Centre, you can get your first choice for bargaining as you shop for local arts and crafts. Spare out time to close the day in Jamestown, a low-rent community that has some of the prettiest colonial buildings of the city as well as the diverse red lighthouse that sits on the gulf. Later, drive through the forest zone as you head towards Kumasi, the seat of the Ashanti Empire to discover the personalities of the famous Ashanti people, whose legacies are still apparent today. Continue, to Kumasi where you will visit the Manhyia Palace Museum to obtain actual evidence on the legacies of the Ashanti kingdom. Next day, visit to the last material remains of the great Asante Empire as we visit the traditional Asante buildings that are now recognized as World Heritage Sites by UNESCO. Later, you’ll visit to the Elmina Castle built by the Portuguese in 1482. Step ahead to the town of Assin Manso, where you will visit the site of "Donkor Nsuo”. Embark on a walking tour of Elmina, which was the first point of European contact in Sub-Saharan Africa and was once the most cosmopolitan city in Tropical Africa. Experience the mode of ancestral worship to the ancient gods before continuing back to Accra where you journey ends.

Payment

For any tour departures within 24 July 2024, full payment is required. For tours that depart later than 24 July 2024, a deposit of 30% is required to confirm this tour, and the remaining balance will be charged 77 days before trip departure.
