“Just returned from an amazing solo hike of the West Highland Way, beautifully organised by the tour company. The whole trip was flawless from start to finish; great accommodation, excellent instructions and pacing of the entire trip which could not have been improved. Highly recommended and I will certainly use this tour operator again for similar expeditions.”
Definitely coming back

“The experience was amazing. We could cover most of the places in the itinerary. The tour guide Neil is funny, knowledgeable and an absolute entertainer. I am definitely recommending these guys to anyone who wants to visit Isle of Skye. My smile in the pictures will tell you how happy I was all the while :) Thank you, tour operator!”

“This was our second great trip with Sherpa. In the future, we will always explore the Sherpa option, if available, first before booking any other hiking trips. We loved the inns that we stayed at. Good rooms with good dining options. Great friendly people at the inns. Very helpful”

Scotland - Tour Highlights and Travel Tips

Sharing a border with England, Scotland is a part of the United Kingdom along with Wales and Northern Ireland. It is the country of bagpipes, kilts and occupies a vibrant culture that is different and unique. Scotland is the country of origin for Golf, which is a major part of their tourism industry. Scotch whisky is another reason to plan for a trip to Scotland but that is not the only thing the country has on offer.

Scotland has always had an alluring sense of mystery which attracts tourists from all over the world - Loch Ness is a good example hereof. It's strikingly beautiful coastline and the surrounding islands are popular locations especially in the summer. Scottish Northern highlands, the well-known Edinburgh Castle and Isle of Skye are some of the most visited destinations in Scotland by tourists.Scots have adventurous blood, hence the amount of opportunities they have to live your wildest wishes in Scotland such as bungee jumping, surfing, kayaks or even just riding downhill on a mountain bike as the Atlantic wind caress you!

Tour Highlights

  • Hill walk, swim and kayak your way around Loch Lomond
  • Explore the ancient halls of Scotland’s fairytale castles, like Edinburgh Castle and Stirling Castle
  • Taste some of the world’s finest malt whiskies on a pub crawl
  • Look for Nessie from the ruins of Urquhart Castle at Loch Ness
  • Hike to the summit of Ben Nevis, Scotland’s highest mountain
  • Take a selfie with a Highland Coo
  • Swim in the Fairy Pools on the Isle of Skye
  • Laugh until your belly hurts at the Edinburgh Fringe, the world’s largest arts festival

Travel Tips

  • Whether you’re a golf fan or not, a visit to St Andrews (the home of golf) is never regretted. Public transport to the Fife town can be complicated, so renting a car is the way to go.
  • There is a complicated history between Scotland and England. Never refer to a Scottish person as English.
  • Learning some Scottish lingo before your visit will be especially helpful if you ever need to ask for directions. A lake is called a loch, aye means yes, and someone calling you a “bonnie lass” thinks you are a beautiful woman.
  • You can’t leave Scotland without trying haggis, Irn-Bru, and at least one deep-fried Mars bar.
  • Don’t ask a Scotsman what’s underneath his kilt unless you really want to know.

Scotland has seasonal weather so please do check up on the best time to visit Scotland before planning your tour. And if you’re still hunting for more things to do and places to explore in the country , do check out our Scotland Travel Guide for more information.
