March 2022 - Short Review of Italian Holiday Tour
5 - Excellent
  • Suzanne Reimolds
“Our team of tour professionals, Tour Director, Jelle, Driver, Marcello, and COVID Health and Safety Nurse, Sandra, delivered and created a safe, fun, highly-organized, energy-intensive, and educational experience on a whirlwind (7 days (2 travel), 5 City (Rome, Venice, Verano, Pisa, Florence, Back to Rome) tour of Italy. Nothing short of amazing that we did, saw, embraced as much Italy as possible within this short time period. Based on the overview, experience that Jelle orchestrated and delivered, I know that I will return to Italy again and again to savor and enjoy these moments. Thank you for exposing us to the wonder that is the culture, the people, and heart of Italy.”

“If youre tired of travelling with busloads of fellow tourists then a small boutique tour with this local travel specialist is the perfect solution. Chantelle and Giovanni have put together a wonderful introduction to the region they call home based around the beautiful town and province Ascoli Piceno. I was travelling solo for the first time, but they made it entirely comfortable and made me feel very welcome. They take groups of up to 8 (ours was 6) and because you base yourself in Ascoli there is no packing and unpacking every day. Each day is a mix of wineries, culture, cooking classes, long lunches, local sites and beautiful views. Theres plenty of time for yourself, and Chantelle and Giovanni take the time to show you anything that you have a particular interest in. If you want to do some extra shopping theyll happily show you their favourite places. This is relaxed touring with a personalised touch where you are meeting the winemakers or producers. This is where the tour operators live and work, so they have relationships with the people you meet that go beyond herding people in with the hope they will buy merchandise. Every experience feels very authentic. Ascoli itself was a great base for the tour. As a solo traveller it felt very safe. I was completely comfortable wandering around by myself in my free time.”

Rome - Tour Highlights and Travel Tips

Rome Tour Highlights

  • The Eternal City’s ancient monuments dating to the Roman Empire are well-preserved and plentiful. Some of the most visited ones include the iconic Colosseum, Arch of Constantine, the Pantheon and Palatine Hills.
  • Vatican City, a independent papal state within the city Rome, is home to several landmarks of the Italian capital, such as St. Peter’s Basilica, Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel and a must visit when you're on an Italy vacation
  • Trevi Fountain is one of the most opulent and famous fountains in the world. It is said that, if you wish to return to Rome, you should toss a coin with your right hand over the left shoulder in its basin.
  • The Spanish Steps, which connect Piazza di Spagna with Piazza Trinità dei Monti, are one of the most recognizable symbols of Rome and a bustling meeting spot for the locals.

Rome Travel Tips

  • If you find yourself in Rome during the scorching summer months, you can always escape the heat by visiting one of the beaches that can be reached via public transport. Most popular ones include the Santa Marinella, Santa Severa, Ostia and Fregene.
  • To absorb Rome’s atmosphere like a local, head over to the Monti neighborhood, a charming maze of cobbled alleyways and piazzettas, which is also a hub of hip, independent businesses, shops and eateries.
  • Keep in mind that several major Rome attractions have a strict dress code, especially in the Vatican. This means wearing shirts that cover the shoulders and skirts or pants that go below the knee. If you are visiting Rome when the temperatures are high, it might be a good idea to carry a shawl with you, just in case you need to cover up.
  • Since Rome is an incredible city with so much to explore, opt to take a Rome tour for easier navigation around the city.
