Nice - Tour Highlights and Travel Tips

As the largest town on the fabled stretch of French coast known as Côte d’Azure, holidays in Nice are will enlighten all your senses. Between enchanting street markets, gorgeous beaches and close proximity to many other interesting spots along the shore, a visit to Nice is the ideal way to experience the beauty of the French Riviera in all its glory.

Travel Highlights

  • Nice’s old town, or Vieux Nice, is a charming maze of winding alleyways lined with picturesque 18 th century buildings, which nowadays host all kinds of boutiques, shops and restaurants.
  • Promenade des Anglais, a 4 km stretch along the coast, is Nice’s main thoroughfare and the prime spot to soak up the atmosphere of the city.
  • The heart of Vieux Nice is the Cours Saleya, a colorful food and flower market where you can buy fresh Mediterranean produce and see some of the most stunning floral displays.
  • Featuring crystal-clear turquoise waters, chic eateries and various sports amenities, it’s no wonder that Beau Rivage is one of the most popular Niçoise beaches.
  • Villefranche-sur- Mer, a quaint fishing village with two intimate beaches, is tucked away 5 kilometers away from the city center, making it ideal for a day trip from Nice.

Travel Tips

  • While in Nice, make sure to try socca, a fire-baked chickpea crêpe, which is a signature snack of this coastal town.
  • Even though Nice is at its liveliest during warm summer months (from May to October), as a city of 300,000 residents, life in Nice doesn’t stop outside of the tourist season. For example, if you happen to be in town during February, you will have a chance to experience the Nice Carnival, one of the largest festivals of this kind in Europe.
  • If you have a sweet tooth, make sure to drop by Fenocchio, a family-owned ice cream parlor located on Place Rossetti, which features a whopping 100 flavors of ice creams and sorbets.
