Why a Find Trekking & Climbing Partners feature?

A memorial was held the other day for 23 year old Matt Allpress from Australia, who disappeared in the Annapurna range on a 10 days solo trekking tour.

Trekking in Nepal is generally not considered dangerous, but the right pre-cautions should always be taken. One of these is to always trek with a buddy or a friend, as it increases safety considerably. Nobody knows what can happen when trekking in the Himalayas on your own.

From the below article it appears that Matt Allpress had an abundance of experience with exploring the world on his own, and despite this, he never returned from Nepal. It is a very tragic story and actually, one of the primary reasons that we created the Find Trekking Partners functionality here at Trekbooking.

We highly advise everybody going trekking or climbing in Nepal to always seek a trekking or climbing partner.

Enjoy Nepal, and the Himalayas - they are fantastic. But please take pre-cautions when 'out there' on your own.
