Cycle the Baltics
5 - Excellent

“A great trip, blending cultural aspects, great sightseeing, exploring the 3 capital cities as well as some nice cycling. Terrain was nice and flat and was within the capability of everyone in our group. Distances were very manageable and there was a minimum of waiting around. Lukas, our guide and the driver were simply outstanding in getting us up on our bikes each day with a minimum of fuss. Fast turnaround time between finishing our cycling and being back on the move again on the bus.”

“This was a fast paced tour of the three Baltic countries, starting off from Estonia and ending in Lithuania. All three were very interesting countries and much different than I had imagined. Everything worked smoothly and there was never a dull moment.”

Estonia - Tour Highlights and Travel Tips

When it comes to outdoor exploration, natural wonders, and ecological diversity, a trip to Estonia is not normally what first comes to mind. However, many are surprised to learn the incredible diversity that this Northern European country offers to visitors. Bound by the Baltic Sea and the Gulf of Finland, this former Soviet European nation is composed of over 1,500 islands, and a world of gorgeous forests. Plan a holiday to Estonia if you want to look at some of the breathtaking natural views on earth as well as gorgeous architecture from the 19th Century. It is certainly a nation that you must see to believe.

Travel Highlights

  • To get a feel for Estonian culture and heritage, a visit to the capital, Tallinn is a must.
  • While in Tallinn, visit the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, a 19th century Orthodox Cathedral that boasts Russian architecture. It’s hard to miss, and hard to forget.
  • Laheemaa National Park is a must for all nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. This gorgeous nature reserve offers much more than a pretty picture.
  • If you’re visiting during the summer, check out Parnu Beach. A 19th century town adorned with colorful villas that overlooks the Parnu Bay. Perfect for an afternoon getaway.
  • For a look back in time, stop at the Kadriorg Palace, a museum housed in a gorgeous baroque architecture building.

Travel Tips

  • If you’re travelling on a budget, Estonia is the place to be. There are many free things to do such as free city tours, free nature activities, and even free events during the summer and winter
  • Music enthusiasts should have Estonia in their bucket list at least one summer. Estonia features many music events during their summers, including Juu Jääb Festival, Hard Rock Camp 2017, and many more! These music festivals run from February to August annually.
  • Try kohuke a flavoured milk curd sweet, which is widely available.
  • For the beer enthusiats, Estonia brews a variety of beer. Give their local brews a try.
  • Generally, Estonians are reserved and only say what is required and punctuality is their strong suit.
  • Winters months can be quite harsh. Keep this in mind when you’re planning your winter getaway to Estonia!
