Oman is a true, modern Arabian paradise, with a little something for every visitor. You’ll love walking the streets of Muscat, taking in its bustling souqs and beautiful architecture like the impressive Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque. And, you’ll equally love heading outside the city for tours of its sandy deserts, majestic mountains and stunning beaches.

Excellent tour with great overview of Oman. Chose this itinerary because of the added day in Jebel Ahkdar and was worth it. Fabulous scenery with the mountains, wadis, abandoned villages and the balcony walk on the Jebel shams canyon. Full group divied in 5 very comfortable 4X4 jeeps for transportation. Nice ensuite cabins (not tents) in the desert. Wonderfull location of the Nizwa hotel giving access to the city at night time, when all the locals are out and about. Good food, included meals and the others. I would recommend this trip without any hesitation.

Oman Odyssey

We really enjoyed the dramatic contrast in Oman's geography, which almost seemed to change at every corner, from its rugged limestone peaks, rocky canyons and refreshing wadis, extensive sand dunes through to the sub-tropical coastal plains.

A trip with such variation in environment; deserts, mountains, beaches, wadis...

I was lucky enough to join this trip as an Exodus staff member, and enjoyed very minute! There were areas where other tourists were few and far between, and whilst I was prepared for beautiful deserts, the mountains were stunning. We were able to eat amazing meals for less than £2, and camping under the stars was unreal.

This trip was EXCELLENT in every way. We saw a lot of Oman in a short space of time. Yes, there were long journeys, but in a terrific, modern 4x4 and there was always plenty to see en route. The drivers were very considerate, regarding toilet stops etc etc. The guide was superb, with a great sense of humour and a real passion for his homeland and he was always willing to go out of his way to help. He was also flexible, when it came to adapting the itinerary to our advantage. The accommodation was of a good standard….most rooms really large, with en-suite. Only the night in the desert was ‘roughing it’ - but we were warned about that! I would recommend this trip to anyone wanting to discover this part of the world….or even someone who wanted something different and exciting.

There can never be a perfect itinerary that perfectly suits everyone but this is as good as it gets. You get to see a wonderfully diverse overview of Oman: mountains, desert, coast, wadis, mud houses, villages and cities! Pros: Loved the mountains, desert and mud house villages. Good group of friendly people excellently led by Marshal, very friendly and very patient! Cons: Hotel in Muscat 20km from Old Muscat and unable to walk anywhere from the hotel, practically surrounded by motorways! As a result very little time spent in Old Muscat which is deserving of at least a whole day. Camping a bit too basic. Hotel by Turtle beach was nice but you're not allowed to see turtles which made this part of the trip a bit pointless. Very little physical activity on this trip so I had to supplement on my own; a long drive into the desert, drive to sunset point and head off first thing in the morning! Same with the mountains, long drives with just a couple of photo stops. An extra day on this trip would be ideal to allow a bit more time for on foot exploration of Old Muscat, desert and mountains! But I still loved the tour.

Comfortable transport in 4WD cars: skilled drivers, especially on ‘off roading’ in difficult terrain; very helpful and good chefs for camping meals/lunchboxes when needed. Tour leader very friendly, concerned we enjoyed each day. But - didn’t provide his mobile number (customary in case of emergency). One person requested it. Didn’t stay to end of tour: left for home after arranging optional boat trip from Muscat (great, well worth it) on 8 Nov. and arranging transport to airport for 2.10pm flight to London. We did wonder what would happen in emergency. Don’t know if concerned about children; don’t want to be critical.
