“This is a full on trip across three countries and at times travelling through mountainous areas on fairly rough roads. As a result this isn't the holiday to take if your looking for relaxation but the pay off is an amazing contrast of stunning ancient buildings, breathtaking scenery and mixing with people who have had limited contact with western europeans. At times we were being photographed as much as the locals! The tour really does take you back through the centuries to the time of Tamerlane and even earlier. The soviet restoration of some sites has been done incredibly well and we felt welcome in all of the mosques and mausoleums we visited”

The first week was in Uzbekistan and more focused on the history of the Silk Road and the gorgeous architecture in the three cities of Tashkent, Samarkand and Bukhara whilst during the second half in Almaty and Kyrgyzstan we learnt more about traditional & modern culture, history from different eras and got a taste of the alpine climates in the gorges and beautiful Issyk-Kol lake”

“We recently completed the Silk Road to Samarkand via Kashgar tour. This was an absolutely amazing trip with knowledgeable guides in all three countries. A special mention must go however to our China guide, Stoney. A truly wonderful human being. The guides (also Olga in Kyrygzstan) were a font of information. Everything was so well organised. Stunning landscape, abundant history and full on activities. Transport and accommodation outstanding as were the meals provided throughout the journey. This trip was well worth waiting for.”
