Montenegro Tours and Trips 2024/2025

With rough mountains, charming medieval villages and some sandy Adriatic beaches, Montenegro has a little something for everyone. It’s certainly one of the best mountain biking destinations in the world, with plenty of exciting hiking tours as well. The fortified town of Kotor is reminiscent of the Riviera, while a trip to Podgorica gives you a taste of the country’s more modern side.

Amazing tour!

  • Valerie Kilfoil
“A great overview of eight Balkan countries with the perfect balance of organized activities and free time. Our guide Anton was the best - organized, calm and had a great sense of humor. I highly recommend. This was my first tour with this local travel operator and I will definitely be booking more tours with them.”

“I think my most memorable moment would be when we sailed on the gulet, and stopped by a small beach on one of the many bays in Montenegro. The water was so blue and the beach was so clean and sandy.”

“I did this tour in April 2019 and had a wonderful experience. I loved the itinerary - it was fast-paced, but I felt like I had enough time in each country to discover their culture and history. There’s a lot of travel time, so if you don’t like long days on a bus, this tour isn’t for you. I enjoyed all the included and optional activities, and I found that even if you did all of them, you still get lots of free tiime. It was a great tour with amazing value for money. Definitely recommend!”

Montenegro - Tour Highlights and Travel Tips

Although a trip to Montenegro might not be on your travel plan, it does have plenty to offer for the curious traveller! Tourism however, has been picking up, ever since the end of the Yugoslavian Civil War in the 1990’s. Those planning a holiday to Montenegro will be relieved to know that the country has a primarily Mediterranean climate. It offers both a variety of beaches and Baltic mountains worth exploring. There are also a variety of interesting historical monuments worth exploring, as well as monasteries and churches. Not to mention, the Bay of Kotor is known as being one of the most exotic bays the world has to offer.

Tour Highlights

  • Reserve a day for visiting the Bay Of Kotor. The town of Kotor is essentially a preservation of Medieval culture. Spend a lazy afternoon meandering through cobblestone streets before viewing the Bay.
  • Spend a night in Budva if your looking to link up with fellow tourists for a night out on the town, you're likely to find success in the coastal town of Budva.
  • Check out Perast if your goal for visiting Montenegro is to experience some stunning architecture. Most of the Venetian style architecture has been protectively preserved since the 17th century.
  • Some of the best water sports can be done in Montenegro – from tackling the rapids while whitewater rafting, snorkeling, stand up paddling and kayaking at Tara River or the Bay of Kotor.
  • For the outdoorsy ones, go hiking in the rolling hills near the coastline or the northern highlands.
  • Don’t forget to try the Balkan fast food especially burek (a filo pastry). The hams and cheeses are specialties of Njeguši.
  • Do take some time out to visit many of the churches and monasteries like St. Luke’s Church in Kotor that has withstood five major earthquakes.

Travel Tips

  • Dress modestly while visiting religious places like churches or monasteries. Cover your knees and shoulders.
  • Montenegro is a safe country, however, be careful as you would in any foreign country.
  • Get the local SIM card if you plant to stay longer in order to be connected.
  • Stick to the main road and do not wander while travelling in areas bordering Kosovo. These areas may contain unexploded land mines.
  • Talk to the locals if you're not sure how to spend the day, chances are a local can point you in exactly the right direction!
  • Try new foods! Montenegro offers a unique and underrated cuisine of its own! Traditional Montenegrin smoked ham and boiled lamb is a must!
