Alice Springs Tours and Trips 2024/2025

As the focal point of Central Australia, Alice Springs is the starting point for many Australian adventures. While a relatively small town of approximately 28,000, a visit to Alice Springs offers a lesson in Aboriginal and pioneering history. But the main reason travellers stop at this small town that lies amongst the desert? Some of Australia’s most iconic natural landmarks, such as Uluru/ Ayers Rock and Kata Tjuta/ The Olgas are all within a short distance.

Alice Springs Tour Reviews

Trilogy Package
5 - Excellent
  • Corina Schmidt
“I just want to let you know that my tour was a blast. I haven't expected such an amazing time. And it was not only to be a member of these customers joining. It was because of our tour guides / your company employees.First Con the driver. Surprised to hear it was just his 6th tour! Born a tour guide I would say. Wonderful guy, cook of the year and such a nice, helpful kind of person. I felt save and comfortable throughout the whole long trip! And our second tour guide Dan. Just impressed of all his knowledge about the aboriginal people, he shared all of this with us. We could see a place where the children go to swim. He prescribed how they live and which plants they use. All the stories belonging to the Uluru and other places. I understand now how they live much better. He spotted a thorny devil during driving so we stopped and he caught it. Such an amazing animal. Once in a lifetime!! I'm sure this is not a common thing during the tour. And his jokes made the trip even more special! The best tour guide you could wish for. Experienced and social and the heart in the right place. I wouldn't miss one day of this trip. Thanks so much to both guides for the best trip of my life so far. I will highly recommend you!”
Rock 2 Water
5 - Excellent
  • Alex Edson-Smith
“I recently completed the 6 day Rock 2 Water tour with Groovy (started Jan 31st) and it was without a doubt the best tour I have ever done! It was really well organised and the tour guide, Mark, was really knowledgeable. The bus was comfortable and the tunes were always bangers. Highlights for me included Uluru,Kings Canyon and sleeping in an underground dorm at Coober Pedy. Make sure you bring really comfortable walking shoes because there are some long hikes. Sleeping in a swag was an interesting experience but was actually pretty comfortable. The food was great, being a vegetarian was no issue on this trip either. Thanks again for the good times Groovy!”
Rock 2 Water
5 - Excellent
  • Sue Miles
“We have recently done a rock 2 water 6 day Alice to Adelaide tour. (Started 7th Feb 2018) The whole experience from start to finish was first class. Shane the tour guide was fantastic. His knowledge was exceptional on all subjects and he kept the whole bus entertained, with his information and stories. His attention to detail enabled the trip to function without a single hiccup and the travellers in the bus gelled as a result. We felt safe at all times and the only disappointing aspect was finishing the trip and saying goodbye at the end. Thanks Shane and Groovy Grapes for a memorable 6 days.”

Alice Springs - Tour Highlights and Travel Tips

Travel Highlights

  • Desert Park is the place to see the wildlife of Central Australia all in one place. Less of a park and more of a nature reserve, the natural habitats of the animals remain intact.
  • Take a visit to Alice Spring’s Olive Pink Botanical Garden and wander along the paths created by the caterpillar ancestors.
  • Explore the surprisingly thriving arts scene at the Alice Springs Araluen Arts Center.
  • The Museum of Central Australia offers a fascinating look into the natural history of the land.
  • The National Pioneer Women’s Hall of Fame is dedicated to the women who helped shape Australia’s history.
  • Watch a sunrise or sunset from Aznac Hill.

Travel Tips

  • A tour to Alice Spring’s center is easily walkable due to it’s small size. Taxi’s are expensive, so it’s best to make the most of your walking shoes.
  • If you travel to Uluru, take food with you from Alice Springs as it’s less expensive.
  • Camping is a great way to really experience the central Australian wilderness.
  • Hiking enthusiasts will find many gorgeous trails to conquer for free.
