“Travelling with a group of friends who met in Botswana on a camping trip 7 years ago, and had so much fun and friendship that we decided to reunite the Botties for a rerun with a bit of Zimbabwe added on! Were slightly concerned that the lodges would lack the intimacy of the wild camping, however this trip was absolutely perfect for us and the tour operator helped us fine tune the experience by switching a day in Vic Falls for an extra day in Hwange for our party of 6. And actually that was probably the highlight of the trip in the end, one of the greatest 24hrs safari experience of my life (and I've had a few)! I was in serious need of a break, but I came home from Africa a different and better person after one of the most amazing trips ever! I am a veteran when it comes to traveling with the tour operator but this had to be the best yet! Thank-you.”

“Southern Africa had a lot to offer and lots of wonderful wildlife. The first leg of the tour went through Namibia and there were less people on the tour and therefore the vehicle used was comfortable as we each had two seats. The accommodations overall were good and some were really good. The Gondwana properies were fantastic and in amazing locations. For the second we left straight away and only had two and half hours in Windhoek... It would have been great to have a day to explore there. On this leg of the trip there were more people and I think a vehicle with sixteen seats is too small for eleven passengers plus a guide. This is a comfort tour and with lots of driving should have more seating. As the group got bigger communication was harder due to lots of questions by the no listeners, which meant loss of time and also a lot of focus placed on them. I ended up missing out on Zip lining at Victoria Falls which was the only activity I had my mind set on for this leg of the tour. Food overall was great but became repetitive after day ten. Makgadikgadi had the best food on this leg. This tour is mainly long days of driving and less activities so it is important to have time at each location to stretch, explore and not all stops offer this. Finally, the tour guide Bonnie and Shadrack were friendly and professional, and made the trip more pleasant.”

“This was a fantastic trip. It involved a lot of driving through the virtually uninhabited desert of Namibia, along mainly unpaved 'corrugated' roads which provided a great deal of 'African massage'. Potential travelers should be prepared for this experience but the desert scenery is ever changing as are the colors. You certainly gain a very real appreciation for the size of the country. For me the first memorable activity was canoeing on the Orange River - so peaceful with amazing scenery! Fish River Canyon was also impressive. My only real complaint is that the Trip Notes mentioned that on Day 7 we would 'watch the early morning light creep over the dunes' at Sossusvlei. This proved to be impossible for two reasons - one is that the park gates do not open until 7:30 am (the sun rises at about 6 am) so it would be necessary to stay inside the park overnight, the second is that we had to drive about one hour passed the park to our lodgings, so adding two hours to our already considerable drive. We ended up climbing Dune 45 in the heat of the mid-day sun. Still an incredible (and very memorably hot) experience but definitely not what we had been lead to believe. Etosha National Park exceeded all expectations - especially at the water hole at Halali where we saw two families of elephants, rhinoceros and a leopard! Also a couple of honey badgers. Of course on safari we saw impala, zebra, giraffe, kudu, oryx, ostrich and many, many birds. Okavango Panhandle overwhelmed us with hippos. Chobe National Park also provided great safaris, hippos and many, many male elephants feeding at a reed bed in the middle of the Chobe River at sunset. Not to mention more birds. We were upgraded to a 5 star hotel in Victoria Falls and the Falls definitely lived up to their reputation.”
