Great Tour leader, Driver and group, brilliant trip, wonderful wildlife, great geography and scenery, interesting politics. Great Truck/Bus, and accommodation generally reasonable to good............except. The Orange River Lodge in Namibia was absolutely dreadful and should never be considered again by the tour operator. NO water, had to ask for towels since there was no water we understood why towels were not provided. No toilet paper, had to ask for this, but could not flush the toilet, and the swimming pool was not useable with the cover firmly in place. The Breakfast was like Fawlty Towers only worse, and so dark in the room you could not see. The toaster had blue electrical flashes coming out of it so was unplugged. The Lodge knew that they had no water but did not inform our tour leader, even though he had contacted them many hours in advance of our arrival. The owners were not interested, even though we were the only guests staying there, it appeared that nobody had stayed there for ages, it was really run down. Even the Shell petrol station attendant next door said it was the worst Lodge on the Orange River and nobody ever stays there. Please do not expose your clients to this truly awful Lodge ever again. The owners staff did say that they would not charge the operator for the dreadful breakfast which would now be free of charge.

This was my second trip with Exodus, and I was confident that I was going to have a good time, get good value for money, and a wonderful experience. I was not disappointed. The booking was effortless, including the add on of four days in Cape Town that I requested. All the information that I needed was in the trip notes, and I felt well prepared. Our guide, Innocent is very knowledgable, and keen to impart this to us, and for us to have as good a time as possible. JoJo, the driver/chef, is also very well-informed, and a very careful safe driver. A lot is asked of him, as he would often prepare a meal for 13 after a long day's drive, sometimes on pretty basic equipment. This he did, always cheerfully. Both were very keen to explain how we can help the local craft industries, but we never felt pressurised or uncomfortable. The variety of experience, each day something new, was a fantastic introduction to South Africa. One week essentially wildlife spotting, the second hiking in some very dramatic scenery. I strongly recommend adding on a few days in Cape Town, if you haven't been before. It is less than a 2h flight, and a beautiful, easy, interesting city, and a great contrast to the game parks and mountains.
Very varied, comfortable and fun!

Although it's only twelve days, there's lots of variety in this trip. There's time on safari, some nice coastal walks, some bird watching, a relaxing wine tasting Sunday, a great city break in Cape Town and penguins! There are only really two travel days and the accommodation is indeed premium. The main stops (2 nights) were all great, especially Amakhala and De Hoop which have real style. Stellenbosch is very good and has plenty of space for relaxing after all the wine tasting. We had a good group and a great guide. And the food and drink in south Africa is great too.
