We meet up at the City Palace ticket counter in Udaipur at 4PM. Here you’ll meet your local guide for the day and begin the adventure around the royal city of Udaipur.
We start from the gigantic City Palace, a vast hilltop complex, located in the center of the city. The monument is a perfect fusion of Rajput, Mughal, European and Chinese architectural style. In the company of your expert guide you will explore beautiful monuments as you walk through the attractive gateways and sprawling gardens and learn more about the details and complexities of the palace. Built in the 15th century, the palace showcasing Rajput heritage in form of ancient paintings, royal attire, souvenirs from historic battles and many more items of significance. Learn about the great Kings and Queens that ruled the city and soak in the history.
We then proceed to the Jagdish Temple, built in 1651 by Maharana Jagat Singh. The temple is dedicated to Hindu God Vishnu, believed to be the preserver of the universe and is built in Indo-Aryan architecture style. Participate in the evening Aarti ceremony in which the devotees sing ancient hymns for the God. Learn from your guide interesting stories of Hindu Mythology and various Gods and Goddesses.
From here we walk to the legendary Bhagore Ki Haveli, graciously built beside Lake Pichola and carefully restored through the rise and fall of various Rajput dynasties. The museum includes various intriguing displays including the world’s largest turban. Also visit the gallery featuring a fascinating collection of period photos of Udaipur and a surreal collection of world-famous monuments carved out of polystyrene.
As the day retires, proceed with your guide to witness an extra-ordinary cultural performance held inside the Bagore Ki Haveli. Be a part of Dharohar Dance Show, exhibiting seven traditional dances of Rajasthan. The musical dance show is presented on the premises of the Haveli from past 10 years and is an excellent medium to understand and enjoy Rajasthan’s folklore. The show runs for an hour and will come to an end at 8 PM. The tour will end hereafter around 8PM.
