The stunning villages of Grindelwald, Lauterbrunnen & Zermatt
A fantastic introduction to the delights of walking in the Swiss Alps
Trekking around classic Alpine peaks: Wetterhorn, Eiger, Monch, Jungfrau & the Matterhorn
Many opportunities for sightseeing
Trek along Bergweg mountain paths & stroll on Wanderweg valley trails
A fantastic introduction to the delights of Swiss Alps hiking including stays in famous Grindelwald, Lauterbrunnen & Zermatt. This tour in the Bernese Oberland is the ideal walking introduction to the Alps of Switzerland. You travel to the two most spectacular and classical postcard regions of the Swiss Alps. The peaks of the Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau overlook the valley towns of Grindelwald and Lauterbrunnen, while the celebrated mountain town of Zermatt lies just below the towering Matterhorn. Each day, you can choose from a range of walks including maps, route notes and GPX files. The routes often come with differing grades and distances, so you can decide the nature of the walking yourself. Whether it be a high mountain trek along a Bergweg mountain path, or a valley stroll on a Wanderweg lower level trail. The flower-strewn alpine meadows in summer around Wengen and Murren and upon the Schynige-Platte walk are an unforgettable experience.
There are many opportunities for spending time sightseeing and utilising the extensive, Swiss mountain transport system to shorten walks. You'll stay in independent 2-3* hotels, with options to upgrade your accommodation. And if you prefer even more time to enjoy good fayre in the valley towns and mountain villages, please ask our team for advise on where to add extra nights.
This carefully prepared programme of walks also allows you time to take the mountain railway to the Jungfraujoch. This is the highest railway station in Europe at nearly 12,000 feet.
Really lovely hike through Switzerland with lots of options to customize the trail from easy to hard. Hotels were good with comfortable beds and pretty good breakfasts.

We really enjoyed visiting iconic Swiss towns and taking in the the stunning scenery including both The Tiger and the The Matterhorn. Unfortunately, we both got COVID four days before the trip commenced so could not take advantage of all the walking options due to our reduced energy levels.
The recommended hikes were terrific. We really appreciated having multiple options each day. The hotels were quite adequate. The breakfasts were ample.
Great trip. UTracks got everything right! The hotels were great. The descriptions of the hikes was perfect, and the extraneous information made it all the more special.
We had a fantastic trip! The hikes were thoughtfully devised to maximize scenic views and quaint villages along the way. There were multiple options to shorten hikes by jumping on a bus, train, tram or gondola and with the maps and written guides traveling in these region is fairly easy to do. The hotels were clean but a few folks in our group had some issues (tiny rooms and bathrooms, funky smells, windows that didn't open and no views) and regretted not paying for the hotel upgrade. My wife and I were pleased with our rooms and also didn't spend much time in them!
Our 8 days Berner Oberland hiking trip was absolutely breathtaking.. from Meiringen to Zermatt Switzerland took our breath away.. The accommodations were perfect and well appointed. Grindalwauld, Lauderbrunnen, Zermatt, offered many different hikes for all levels, and using our Berner Oberland pass offered many transportation options during our hikes. The weather was perfect during our stay. All the inns offered very nice European breakfasts. Our only complaint was the Lauerhorn inn in Grindelwald. Rooms were wonderful. Connie the innkeeper was very curt and unfriendly. Never a welcome or a thank you to all four of us. The elevated was broken and never offered help to get our bags from the basement to our rooms. Her husband on the other hand was very kind and helpful. That was our only complaint on the whole trip, everyone else at all the accommodations were so wonderful, warm and welcoming. Switzerland is a magical and glorious part of the world, nothing could surpass the hiking and views we experienced. The company does a great job.
We had a great time on this trip. All the hotels and hikes lived up to (high) expectations! One of us had a food allergy, and the hotels were aware and handled it well.
The instructions, maps, and accommodations were great!
