High speed train was a new experience. Alhambra was a highlight. More REAL free time. No time to shop or explore unless you didn’t use the restroom and eat. Seen all the churches, cathedrals and museums I ever want to see again.
Too many religious institutions.
Barcelona, Grenada, Peniscola, Seville, Toledo, Elvis, and Lisbon were all great to see. We saw the Alhambra, several palaces in medieval towns, and several awesome cathedrals. Food was great as well, and we got in a lot of walking to see the sights.
Excellent tour. Guides were very good. This tour is a very fast pace tour. Lots of information and you will see everything in Spain Portugal you need to.! But , you do get up every morning early and are constantly moving without any downtime or souvenir shopping.. hotels are excellent and the included meals
The entire trip was memorable, would definitely recommend!
Our tour guide was fabulous. Everything was the best.
The entire trip was a joy and informative.
Luis was a wonderful herder of people. He did an excellent job. In Madrid I got on the bus and that was the only morning he asked if we got everything out of our safes. I immediately raised my hand because my passports were in our safes. I would highly recommend that every morning your guide would ask that question, because he saved me much heartache by reminding me of my passports. Great job, Luis
Loved the Sagrada familia as I had never seen the interior. Excellent guide!! I also enjoyed the Al hambra as I had never been there.
I had a wonderful experience touring Spain & Portugal. The tour covered a lot of territory & was both fun & educational. My main criticism is in the number of churches & cathedrals we spent time in & that there could have been more hands on activities. Overall, I thought it was a good value for the money.
Good trip. Good adjustments were made due to Holy Week constraints.
Everything Valencia- 40 miles of walking - saw alot - food and hotels were great
I was surprised that Barcelona was not as scenic as I thought it would be. Drive was long from Barcelona. Loved Toledo and tour of royal palace.
Tour Manager Eliana was excellent. Some accondations like Elva’s was just average although dinner brunch was good. I did upgrade Madrid accomdation in advance and than was suddenly b cancelled so that was disappointing. Group Dinner in Madrid , on April 14 was Squid on couscous. There was no squid and since was also my birthday, that was very disappointing. There seemed to be a rush to jam in several stops and organized walks so there was little to no time to spend on our own to shop. That should be addressed.
The tour included visits to historic and cultural evolutions in the two countries. I learned so much from the guides who were very knowledgeable and versed in different languages. The tour manager and rest of the staff members were eager to assist and puntual at all times. Hotels and restaurants were as good as expected. An excellent experience.
This was my first travel experience with a tour company. Overall, my experience was very good and positive: an excellent tour guide, saw a variety of cities and sights, stayed in comfortable accommodations, interacted with interesting folks on the tour, appreciated the nice bus, and so on. In the future, I would prefer to be in a much smaller tour group (40+ was far too many people) and spend more days in fewer places (staying in 7 cities/towns over 12ish days was too much). I could have skipped Toledo entirely, but realize that the overnight stay there made the drive from Madrid, Spain to Lisbon, Portugal easier. I wish that I had had more time in Lisbon and better weather. It rained every day that we were in Lisbon. I’d like to go back to Portugal to explore it more slowly. I’d suggest travelers consider staying extra days after the tour ends and visiting Porto. As I mentioned, it was an excellent learning experience that helped shape what I’ll look for on future travels, especially tours. Maybe Collette should consider offering a week tour of only Portugal .. 3-4 days each in 2-3 places.
