based on the itinerary we did not stop at Estes Park or Boulder, we were only at Garden of the Gods for apx 20 minutes. There was no entrance fee to Mesa Verde NP due to govt shutdown, but we never got a refund of that $. Tour Manager said the itinerary was an 'older version'. Tour Manager had bus stop twice at a grocery store for comfort stop as well as 'get something for dinner and take it to your room and put it in your microwave'. Really? Tour Manager had no back up plan when he didn't have the bus driver go to the stops and we had extra time left over....we just went back to our hotel! The Tour Manager did not deserve a $90/pp tip from a bus of 40+ people and it was to be in cash so he didn't have to pay taxes on it. Who gets $3,600 + in cash for 8 days of work??? He was polite but you would never had known he was a seasoned Tour Manager of 28+ years. I feel everyone needs some type of compensation/credit for another Collette tour. I'm a seasoned traveler and my head just shook from side to side with things that occurred.
The trip was well planned. The tour guide was not well prepared for hiccups along the way. Barry had no secondary options planned for miscues in the itinerary. He took us to grocery stores to use the restrooms. My favorite part was the farm to table dinner after the train ride. The story that preceded our meal was great! The timing of the trip was perfect for viewing the fall colors of the Aspen and Birch trees.
Eating at the farm family restaurant!
Went to the top of Pikes Peak. Pretty and nice weather.
We spent way too much time on the bus; there was a lot of back tracking on this bus tour. This was our first bus tour and we won't take one again. The tour manager did not add much value; he was not local to the area and seemed to be just looking stuff up on the internet (we could have done that ourselves). We were expecting a lot more local culture experience than was provided.
Bikes, peak was my favorite high
Wonderful trip to National parks and monuments in Colorado. Collette does an exceptional job in planning, organizing and educating with this tour and others.
Heather Larson is the best tour manager I’ve ever had. She’s a wealth of information involving dates, names entertwined with history of the area all in story form committed to memory, making it easy to follow and interesting. I would suggest smaller meals at the end of the day, way too much food!
Heather Larsen ( tour guide ) and Glen ( driver) were the best most informative people.
Rocky mountaineer Silver Leaf Plus was not worth the price we paid. We sat in the same kind of seats ate at our seats like the other class the bar tender in the lounge car was not there most of the time the first day. The overall service we got was poor not enough help!!! The first and last hotel was not very good. Thank You. CB
Enjoyed the scenery of the rockies mountsins
The parks and the train rides were incredible for the scenery. Don't purchase the upgrade for the mountaineer train. Way overpriced for what they delivered.
Loved everything!!only disappointing thing was Hyatt centric in Denver. Breakfast wasn’t good….cold eggs no bread( toast, bagels etc)) Only 1 hr offering and not flexible.
It was a pleasure. Can't wait for the next trip
Great. Can't wait for the next trip.
All of the many western sites. Too many to mention.
Our flight to Colorado was a direct flight, so no negotiating airports. Our tour guide greeted us at the luggage pickup and escorted us to our bus for the week. All of the hotels were of high quality and we got good sleep every night. Too many sights to see, the tour hit most of the highlights. In my opinion, the Arches National park and Pikes Peak were the highlights for me. Our tour manager, Curtis, prepared us for what to expect the next day as far as sights to see, itinerary changes and the expected weather. Sometimes we had to change plans because of unexpected delays, but this is to be expected. I would recommend this tour for anybody wanting to see Colorado at it's finest.
We had a once in a lifetime experience on the Colorado Rockies Tour. The views were absolutely breathtaking and the tour guide Bryce and the bus driver Rhonda were also amazing. I think our favorite stop was the Arches in Utah and that was added on because there was a wildfire in Black Canyon. We did the walk to see the double mask and did quite well considering our age. The meals were unbelievable- the many choices helped because they always had my favorite food, Salmon, available. Sadly, we had to leave early because my husband had a medical problem and that was also taken care of immediately thanks to Bryce and the hotel manager at Strater Hotel in Durango. So many nice people that we met and shared stories. I would definitely recommend Collette to everyone.
I have never been to Colorado, so this was my first trip there. The vistas were awesome. Even though it was just rocks, pictures do not do it justice, as you have to see it in person to appreciate the Rockies. Bryce Hill, our tour guide, made it very interesting with all the information about the places we visited. I think my favorite location was the Arches National Park. It was unbelievable that all those rock formations were formed millions of years ago. The accommodations and restaurants we ate at were top-notch. Rhonda, our bus driver, was very pleasant and handled the mountain roads like a pro. We met some very nice people on the tour. Unfortunately, I got altitude sickness and had to return home before the end of the tour, but 5 out of the 9 days we were on the tour were breathtaking. Bryce helped immensely in getting me medical help and made arrangements so that we could return home. My wife and I had a great time on this trip, and Bryce and Rhonda ensured we had everything we needed. The rest stops were well planned to allow for bathroom breaks between attractions. At some of the stops, we had time to pick our own place to eat and shop before moving on to the next attraction.
PIKES PEAK and The arches
