About

I am Canadian born of Argentine parents. I now live with my wife and two kids in the beautiful city of Granada. Armed with an English Literature degree and a love of the Hispanic world, I left my native Canada in 1999 to move to Spain and enter the world of tourism where I could enjoy my passions: walking, history (especially the Moorish history of Spain) and gastronomy.

I began by guiding diverse tours throughout Spain and have now reached a point where I feel I know Spain better than my own homeland! After guiding many tours throughout the Iberian Peninsula, I decided it was time to set up a few of my own and have since been arranging services that include all the wonderful things that I've had the benefit of experiencing here in Spain.

James's Travel Expertise

I have lived in Spain since 1999, the first three years in Barcelona and since 2002 in the city of Granada. Andalusia, the southern region of Spain, is the area that I know best and it includes some of the most impressive and distinctive cities in Spain: Seville, Cordoba and Granada. I would say this region is my principal speciality, although as a close second I could name the Camino de Santiago trail and the areas of Castilla-Leon and Galicia through which it passes.

In Andalusia for me the main attractions are the unique Moorish legacy, the wonderful weather, the amazing food, the spectacular mountainous regions and the enthusiastic Andalusian approach to life. Developing and managing All Ways Spain has allowed me to travel around this part of the world and take in its incredible beauty, and then share this with fellow travellers.

James's best travel experience

I would say my most memorable travel experience is the trip I made from Antigua in Guatemala to the capital, Guatemala City. My friend and I, both backpackers in our mid-20s, embarked on an overland journey that took us through incredible scenery including the Mayan ruins of Tikal. As there was scarce public transportation we hitchhiked on trucks, stayed in villages where the people were unaccustomed to foreigners but delighted to see us, and enjoyed a few nights in the fantastic ruins of Tikal. The natural beauty, the people, their hospitality, and the fellow travellers we met along the way were all unforgettable.

Why is James the right travel expert

First of all, I have a passion for Spain (in particular Andalusia) and have travelled extensively throughout the region, both in my work and for pleasure. This means that I am able to draw upon a wealth of ideas when it comes to creating a travel plan for others, added to the experience that comes from having set up and run tours for clients of All Ways Spain since its beginnings in 2005, as well as my previous involvement as guide and tour leader in other companies' tours. With my colleagues in All Ways Spain we create and organise tours for a wide variety of clients and pride ourselves on offering quality services that not only take in the principal sights but also afford a perspective on the way of life and culture in Andalusia and Spain. I think we all place importance on listening to what our clients tell us and as a result we are able to translate their wishes into reality in an efficient and personal way.
