About

I worked in the hospitality sector of tourism for several years before I decided to go to university. I graduated in 2012 with a BA in tourism management from a small university in the tiny village of Hólar, on north Iceland's Troll Peninsula. Since graduation, I have been working as a tour designer and activity guide, leading hiking tours, river rafting, snowmobiling and dune buggying.

In my free time, I spend a lot of time in my beautiful garden at home and volunteering at a local animal shelter. I also hike and go camping and am an active volunteer at ICE-SAR (Icelandic Search and Rescue). Most of my weekends over wintertime are spent teaching prospective ICE-SAR volunteers and extending my training in highland rescue and search techniques.

I absolutely love my beautiful country, and can't wait to help you explore it!

Eydís's best travel experience

My most recent and amazing travel experience was a trek across Laugavegur highland trail. This is a week-long trip, starting in Landmannalaugar and ending in beautiful Thorsmork. This tour should be a rite of passage for all Icelanders' and avid hikers in my opinion! The contrasts in the landscape, the serenity and (especially if it is in good company) is the perfect way to spend a week!
