Get a taste of traditional and modern day Tokyo during this 3.5-hour sightseeing excursion and river cruise perfect for those short on time.
Start off your exciting day of exploration with a pickup from select hotels/hostels in the early afternoon, before heading to the tour meeting point at Hamamatsucho Bus Terminal.
Our first stop is Tokyo’s 40-story-tall World Trade Center building where you will get to marvel at impressive 360-degree views from the skyscraper’s Seaside Top observation platform. From this unique vantage point you’ll have 20 minutes to spot the city’s iconic Tokyo Tower, the Tokyo Skytree and, if the weather’s clear, perhaps the majestic Mount Fuji.
We will then have a quick look at the nearby Imperial Palace and its beautiful outer garden. On your way to your next stop, your bus passes through Tokyo’s busy Ginza neighborhood, one of the city’s most famous for shopping and nightlife. We'll then arrive at Asakusa Kannon Temple, which dates to 645 AD, and is known as the city’s most famous Buddhist religious site. Your guide will tell you the fascinating history of the temple as you admire its idyllic gardens, intricate architecture and gates. Exit via the Hozomon Gate and then head on over to the Nakamise shopping area, a commercial district full of vendors offering traditional Japanese souvenirs and snacks.
We'll end the day with a 40-minute cruise down the Sumida river. Glide beneath 12 of the city’s many bridges, listening to a recorded audio guide that will add context to this unique urban waterway. We'll get back on land at Hinode Pier where your coach will be waiting to drop you off at Tokyo Station. Before you go your separate way, you'll receive a complimentary souvenir map to continue your own explorations of this one-of-a-kind city.
