“Iran is far more than the amazing ancient ruins of Persepolis dating back 2,500 years, tombs carved into cliffs, exquisite tiled domed ceilings in mosques, beautiful tranquil gardens with water features, elaborately decorated palaces, the carpet museum, national museum, magnificent jewellery museum, superb contemporary art museum and having fun bargaining in the bazaars. Having such a small group (3), plus Saeed our driver guide made it so easy for us to engage with the locals. They would often stop us in the street and ask us where we were from and then welcome us to Iran and also ask if they could photograph us. We were offered bread and fruit by strangers. Sitting and enjoying Persian tea was a very pleasant way to take a break during the day. The locals were very helpful when we were at the railway or using a map to get around. We enjoyed our picnics that were prepared by Saeed consisting of the tastiest tomatoes, cucumbers, cheese, bread, tea and fresh fruit. We saw lots of families picnicking. A shop selling freshly squeezed pomegranate juice was very refreshing on a hot day. The word must be getting out about travelling to Iran as a holiday destination, as we saw a few coaches with french and english tourists. We received a lot of negativity from family and friends wanting to know "why Iran", but with this tour company telling us we would be safe and have a wonderful cultural experience, which it certainly was. Thank you so much Saeed Ashtiani you looked after us so well.”
“This tour was a wonderful dip into ancient history, with knowledgeable guides telling stories of peoples and cultures past and present. These countries desperately need us to bring our dollars and interest to theirs, to embrace their delicious foods (maybe not camel for me!) and magnificent mosaics. So much to learn in such a short time!”
“Iran positively defies expectations, even if they are already high, in every way and this tour operator supplied an open and knowledgeable local guide - historically, religiously and personally - and arranged for key and diverse sights and relaxing hotels for respite along the way.”
