February is a mix of mild and moderate sunny days and gray, gloomy ones. Post sundown, there is a sudden drop in temperature. Out of all winter months, February is relatively drier with only ten to 15 days of rainfall, but the quantity is considerably less. And as the country itself is located on the Iberian Peninsula, it is still warmer than most European countries during February.
Lisbon has pretty pleasant weather during this time of year, with daily highs around 16°C and lows at 9°C. Porto is colder and wetter, with an average daily high of 15°C and a night temperature of 6°C. The Algarve is warmer than Lisbon, with a maximum daytime temperature of 17°C and the minimum nighttime temperature of 9°C. At 15°C, the waters off of the country’s coast are pretty cold for swimming. For sunbathing though, you can head to Madeira where temperatures hover between 18 and 20°C. Here, the average rainfall is 18mm during the entire month.
