If the rain doesn’t bother you, this is a good time to visit, as the accommodation prices would be lower, and the high season crowds would have left. The rains would have ceased in the north, so if you want to visit the historical towns of the north, like Citadelle, Limonade, Bois Caiman, or head to the northern beaches of St Michel or Beli to enjoy some Haitian cuisine and beats, this is the best time to visit Haiti for you.

This is springtime, and the weather in Haiti is rather comfortable. Except for the northern parts, there is little to no rain elsewhere, so you will definitely be able to enjoy some beach fun. The weather will be rather warm, so make sure you pack enough sunscreen.

  • Highlights: This is the best time to visit Haiti for a lot of reasons. The lack of rains makes this the perfect season for you to hit the southern beaches, like Port Salut, Les Cayes, Gelee Beach, etc. You can also explore the best of nature at the Bassin Bleu and Saut-Mathurine waterfalls. Port au Prince will see a lot of tourist footfall in this season, but all the tourist spots will be fully open. Enjoy shopping at the Iron Market, or buying Haiti’s unique art in Pétionville. The Port-au-Prince Carnival is celebrated in February, as a celebration leading up to Mardi Gras, and in March, the country wide Feast of the Dead, or Fete Gédé Vodou is celebrated.

April to July — Summer / Good Season

The peak travel season would have ended around this time, and the weather in Haiti, especially towards the south, starts to get rather wet. May is the wettest month in Port at Prince as well, so if you don’t like the rains, you should not travel to the capital city during these months. The weather will get rather hot and humid in these areas, due to the high temperature and the rains. However, this is the best time to visit the north.

  • Highlights: This is the best time to visit Haiti, but mostly only the northern part of the country. The north has some incredibly rich historical locations for you - including Citadelle Laferriere, Sans-Souci Palace, Site des Ramiers, etc. You can even enjoy a calming beach vacation at Kokoye Beach, or Labadee. Gelee Beach hosts the Fete Notre Dame festival, a celebration with great Haitian food, music, and dancers, in June.

August to October — Monsoon / Low Season

This is the low season, as this is the hurricane season. Rainfall is steadily high throughout the entire country, and the weather in Haiti will be hot and humid. This is when to visit Haiti if you’re on a budget and want to save the most money - however, you will have to keep an eye out for weather warnings, as the country is prone to hurricanes.

  • Season: Monsoon
  • Highlights: Even when there are no hurricanes, the storms can get rather intense. This is a good time to travel to Haiti if you want to save money - but it is advised you stick to the bigger cities, as the smaller towns might have the tourist attractions closed.
