“Even though there was a lot of driving on this tour, I knew that before I chose it. The scenery was truly amazing. Great group on the bus and everyone kept to the schedule. Our tour leader was very knowledgeable and the local guides also knowledgeable and engaging.”

“I loved my trip and I'm very happy I joined the tour. Yes there is a lot of driving, but it is to be expected when you book the tour. The hotels Expat provided were above expectations, the drivers and tour guides were amazing, the route was very well made, and overall I had a lot of fun visiting amazing locations. Thank you Expat and I will return.”

“Andreea, our tour leader, and Bjorn, our coach driver, were fabulous! There was so much to see and do and Andreea made it all possible and Bjorn got us there safely. Andreea was so knowledgeable about the sites - she showed us hidden jewels we would never have found on our own. She even had a medical emergency that she had to address with minimal disruption to the tour! No senerio was too much for her excellent skill set! The scenery in Norway was breathtaking! Hospitality everywhere was gracious and charming. If there weren't so many other spaces to see with our ExPat family, we'd to this tour again with Andreea and Bjorn. This was our 5th ExPat tour and we signed up for four more during this year's promo!”

Stockholm - Tour Highlights and Travel Tips

Set on Lake Mälaren, Stockholm is a jigsaw of 14 main islands, all connected by more than 50 bridges. With 60% of the city being made up of waterways and green spaces, Stockholm lets offers plenty of fresh air! At the forefront of innovative and modern cuisine, Stockholm is also a food lover’s heaven. With such easy access to nature interlaced with waterways and the resulting bountiful ingredients it brings to Stockholm’s tables, there’s a reason Stockholmers call their city ‘beauty on water.’

Travel Highlights

  • The Skansen open-air museum is a microcosm of Swedish living. With 150 buildings dotted along a Djurgårdsvägen hilltop, visitors can see everything from period costumes, zoo animals, glassblowing, a working bakery, an old pharmacy and much more. Skansen gives you a complete example of how Swedes have lived for hundreds of years.
  • Wander through the old town of Gamla Stan. Home to the old aristocracy, the Royal Palace, the Nobel museum and much more. You can spend hours traipsing along the cobbled streets of the quaint and beautiful historic center.
  • Enjoy Stockholm’s famed nightlife in the area of Strueplan.
  • Tour the National Museum and see works by Rembrandt, Rubens, Goya, Renoir, Degas, and Gauguin. Don’t forget the Swedish artists Carl Larsson, Ernst Josephson, C.F. Hill and Anders Zorn.
  • If you’re taking your significant other to Stockholm, walk along the Monteliusvägen path at sunset. It’s a super romantic way to see Lake Mälaren.

Travel Tips

  • Grab a Stockholm Card as soon as you arrive. It grants you free public transport and free entry to almost all of the city’s attractions.
  • Alcohol can be expensive in Stockholm, but beer is always cheap.
  • The metro is open throughout the night and is always a cheaper option than a taxi.
  • Using the city bike is a great way to get around and see the sights at the same time.
  • The Medieval Museum under the Royal Palace is one of the best museums to visit.
