HIGHLIGHTS
  • Visit the home museum of Nobel Prizewinning poet Pablo Neruda in Isla Negra
  • Relax during a visit to Matetic Vineyard for a winery tour and tasting
  • Shop for local handicrafts and try traditional Chilean food in Pomaire
  • Enjoy a relaxing day away from the hustle and bustle of the city in the coastal town
Find inspiration at Isla Negra with the constant sights and sounds of the waves hitting the rocks on the shore.

Nobel Prize in Poetry winner Pablo Neruda built his house overlooking the Pacific Ocean in search of inspiration in this quiet seaside town. He constructed the building to resemble the interior of a ship, filled with seashells, mementos and treasures from the sea. Gain fascinating insight into Neruda’s eccentric life and works with a tour of his house museum.

We then go for a tour and tasting at Matetic Wine Vineyard, located in the Rosario Valley. After the wine tasting, we continue our journey to Pomaire, known for its interesting clay pottery and other handicrafts. The town became an artisan hotspot because of natural clay deposits in the nearby land, causing the pottery industry to boom here.

Pomaire’s iconic pottery symbol? A reddish clay pig often found in homes and restaurants. Pomaire is also known for being the home of the largest empanadas in Chile! This is a great and relaxing day out of the city.

“I highly recommend Chile Dream Tours. My friend and I took two different tours with Chile Dream Tours in April 2019 - Both tours were customized winery tours. We wanted to visit wineries that were unique (e.g., family-owned, organic, unusual varietals, scenic). Sean with Chile Dream Tours found the perfect wineries for us, and we enjoyed every single one! We worked with Sean to arrange the tours, and Genevieve was our tour guide. Sean was amazing - he helped plan and customize our tours so that they were exactly what we wanted. He gave us suggestions based on his knowledge of Chile and he was also very responsive to our interests. He was very good about answering our many questions. And he was very easy to reach - both through email and WhatsApp. Genevieve, our tour guide, was also wonderful! She was very helpful and knowledgeable. She took care of everything we could possibly need during our tours. She was waiting for us when we got off the plane in Santiago (she picked us up at the airport for the first of our winery tours) -- It was very easy to meet up with Genevieve. And then on both of our tours, she took care of everything. We had tons of fun! (That's why we booked a second tour :) I've already recommended Chile Dream Tours to several people, and I plan to use Chile Dream Tours again if (when) I return to Chile. It's fantastic!”

“We had a very good day out in the Maipo Valley visiting a couple of terrific wineries with Sean from Chile Dream Tours. The Santa Rita and Concha y Torro Vineyards are beautiful properties with excellent wines. Tastings were great. Lunch was at a little community based restaurant between the two wineries and was of excellent quality. Sean is a very good host and the late model vehicle was very comfortable. A top day!”

“We spent a week in Chile and took various tours (of the city, the beach, and the countryside), and this was by far the BEST of all the tours we took. Our tour guide, Sean, has been living in Chile for over 25+ years, and was a wealth of knowledge. We started off our day with a scenic drive through the countryside, and our first stop was Paidahuen. This is an archeological park with incredible views of the Andes. We went on a short hike (about 1 hour round trip), Sean had walking sticks and water for us, and we went at our own pace so we were able to take lots of pictures and soak in the incredible views. Unlike other tour groups, we did not feel rushed, and we were given the freedom to explore on our own. After the hike, we got a private tour of the In Situ winery at the base of the hill. Maria, the general manager of the vineyard, gave us a tour of the grape fields and barrel storage, and even took us behind the scenes to see the manufacturing process, even their bottle labeling process. This was a very complete winery tour, unlike some of the other wine tours we had taken in other areas. After the tour we had a wine tasting of 4 different wines complete with cheese platter. Then we drove about another 45 minutes to the Chilean/Argentinean border to an amazing local restaurant right at the foot of the Andes, with delicious local food, incredible views, and we even saw llamas and alpacas roaming in the back lawn of the restaurant. Our final stop was an alpaca farm in Llai Llai, which is the largest exporter of alpacas in the world. We got the chance to pet and feed the baby llamas, some as young as just a few days, this was by far the highlight of the trip! We also got a private tour of the yarn and clothing manufacturing operation, which was very educational. It was a full day but we loved every minute of it, and we couldn't have asked for a better tour guide than Sean.”
