HIGHLIGHTS
  • A spectacular tour of Chile’s beautiful central coastline visiting small villages and cove
  • Travel into the heart of Chile's countryside to get close up to alpacas
  • Spot penguins on Cachagua Island
Explore the central Chilean coastline while discovering the country's charismatic wildlife—alpaca and penguins. On one of our most popular tours, visit an alpaca farm and the quiet beachtown of Cachagua.

After your hotel pick up, we venture to the countryside to visit the largest privately owned alpaca farm in Chile. Get up close with the beautiful animals and observe the entire alpaca-wool production process. You will see the entire alpaca wool production process and enjoy a broad selection of exclusive creations and handmade alpaca wool items that portray the patrimony and spirit of the Andean culture, which is the World of Alpaca.

We then continue to the Pacific coastline to the town of Cachagua. We will be a stone’s throw from “Penguin Island” where on most days we will be able to catch glimpses of penguins by the naked eye or using binoculars. We will walk on a beautifully carved pathway to a small cove with gorgeous views of the ocean.

Afterwards, we will have time for lunch (not included) in the quiet seaside resort town of Zapallar. This tour is a “must do” for anyone wanting to experience the essence of Chile!

“Sean is an excellent tour guide that is a US expat that has lived in Chile for a long time. He is extremely knowledgeable about Chile and provided us with a lot of interesting information about the area. Because this is a private tour, Sean was able to adjust the itinerary to provide more time in the areas where were were most interested. The tour of Neruda's house in Isla Negra was excellent, and the small town of Pomaire which produces a lot of pottery was interesting to explore. Sean also gave us an recommendation for a very good local Chilean restaurant in Pomaire, where we had a very tasty lunch. We highly recommend this tour to anyone who is visiting Santiago, and will definitely contact Sean again in the future for other tours of the area when we return.”

“I highly recommend Chile Dream Tours. My friend and I took two different tours with Chile Dream Tours in April 2019 - Both tours were customized winery tours. We wanted to visit wineries that were unique (e.g., family-owned, organic, unusual varietals, scenic). Sean with Chile Dream Tours found the perfect wineries for us, and we enjoyed every single one! We worked with Sean to arrange the tours, and Genevieve was our tour guide. Sean was amazing - he helped plan and customize our tours so that they were exactly what we wanted. He gave us suggestions based on his knowledge of Chile and he was also very responsive to our interests. He was very good about answering our many questions. And he was very easy to reach - both through email and WhatsApp. Genevieve, our tour guide, was also wonderful! She was very helpful and knowledgeable. She took care of everything we could possibly need during our tours. She was waiting for us when we got off the plane in Santiago (she picked us up at the airport for the first of our winery tours) -- It was very easy to meet up with Genevieve. And then on both of our tours, she took care of everything. We had tons of fun! (That's why we booked a second tour :) I've already recommended Chile Dream Tours to several people, and I plan to use Chile Dream Tours again if (when) I return to Chile. It's fantastic!”

“We spent a week in Chile and took various tours (of the city, the beach, and the countryside), and this was by far the BEST of all the tours we took. Our tour guide, Sean, has been living in Chile for over 25+ years, and was a wealth of knowledge. We started off our day with a scenic drive through the countryside, and our first stop was Paidahuen. This is an archeological park with incredible views of the Andes. We went on a short hike (about 1 hour round trip), Sean had walking sticks and water for us, and we went at our own pace so we were able to take lots of pictures and soak in the incredible views. Unlike other tour groups, we did not feel rushed, and we were given the freedom to explore on our own. After the hike, we got a private tour of the In Situ winery at the base of the hill. Maria, the general manager of the vineyard, gave us a tour of the grape fields and barrel storage, and even took us behind the scenes to see the manufacturing process, even their bottle labeling process. This was a very complete winery tour, unlike some of the other wine tours we had taken in other areas. After the tour we had a wine tasting of 4 different wines complete with cheese platter. Then we drove about another 45 minutes to the Chilean/Argentinean border to an amazing local restaurant right at the foot of the Andes, with delicious local food, incredible views, and we even saw llamas and alpacas roaming in the back lawn of the restaurant. Our final stop was an alpaca farm in Llai Llai, which is the largest exporter of alpacas in the world. We got the chance to pet and feed the baby llamas, some as young as just a few days, this was by far the highlight of the trip! We also got a private tour of the yarn and clothing manufacturing operation, which was very educational. It was a full day but we loved every minute of it, and we couldn't have asked for a better tour guide than Sean.”

CANCELLATION

Cancellation for this product is free up to 48 hours before the chosen start date - full refund will be given. If cancelling less than 48 hours before the chosen start date no refund applies.

Other Practical Information* The order of sites visited may vary. * Penguin sightings from the shore are most common during the summer months of November to March. During these months there are several hundred penguins on the island. Between April and October, the penguin population reduces to only a dozen or so. Therefore, please be aware that during these months it may not be possible to see the penguins on the island from the shore. Throughout the year, as an alternative to seeing the penguins on the island as we walk along the shore, you will have the option of taking a one-hour private boat ride around the island (weather permitting) for closer viewing of the penguins. This is an additional $60.000 Chilean Pesos per group (up to 7 people) and payment must be made in cash directly at the dock on the tour date. Please note your interest in taking this optional boat ride when you complete the reservation form. This option is not recommended for those that suffer from motion or sea sickness. * Although this is a private tour with your own vehicle and guide, there may be other visitors at the alpaca farm, which is beyond our control. * In order to sight the penguins it is necessary to walk around 1,500 feet on the beach, so we recommend wearing appropriate footwear. * Please bring a light jacket as the weather may be cooler on the coast even in summertime. * Free pick-up and drop-off from any hotel, Airbnb, and residence in Santiago. * Free airport pick-up or drop-off on tour day * Your health is our priority. All of our tours include private transportation in order to maintain social distancing in compliance with the U.N. World Health Organization’s Guidelines to Restart Tourism (25 May 2020). You will be the only guests in the tour van. We also provide hand sanitizer and masks are available for all guests.
