Enjoy your breakfast at the hotel and check out. Leave San Jose in the morning and travel through Braulio Carrillo National Park. Enjoy great sceneries along the way and arrive at Sarapiqui. Located in the northeastern parts of the country, Sarapiqui is known for its crystal clear rivers, an abundance of beautiful tropical forests and villages inhabited by friendly people.

Zip your way from treetops to treetops over a secondary forest with tall, majestic trees during a canopy tour that lasts an hour and a half. Have lunch after zip lining and raft your way down the turbulent waters of the Sarapiqui River.

The rapids on the river range between class II and class III. Enjoy beautiful sceneries as you paddle down the river. Stay overnight in Sarapiqui at Selva Verde Lodge.

Your chocolate tour begins mid-morning, after you are done with breakfast. Learn more about one of the favourite foods of mankind during this three-hour tour. A plant species that originated in Mesoamerica, cacao has an extraordinarily rich history, since it was one of the most important products of the Mayans and the Aztecs as well as other Central American cultures.

The tour includes a guided hike to a cacao plantation as well as to a forested section where you can see the wild species of cacao. Learn more about the natural and cultural history of the plant from your guide.

See all the processes involved in turning raw cacao into chocolates, starting from harvesting and fermentation to drying and milling. You also have the option to taste different types of organic chocolates prepared from the cacao grown by the Association of Amazilla Women of the Caribbean, a group of rural women from Pueblo Nuevo de Guacimo dedicated to the production of organic chocolate.

You are free during the morning to enjoy hotel facilities or take part in any of our multiple optional tours. Head for the Arenal Volcano area in the afternoon. Check in at Hotel San Bosco or similar. The hotel is located in La Fortuna, a small town northwest of San Jose that is considered to be the gateway to Arenal Volcano National Park.

Enjoy a 4-hour tour of the famous Fortuna Waterfall in the morning. Ride horses and be enchanted by the beauty of the Costa Rican countryside. Walk more than half a kilometer through a forest to reach the waterfall, which is 70 meters high. At the base of the waterfall is a natural pool where you can swim if you want to (only around one hour of swimming allowed).

After a typical Costa Rican breakfast, transfer to your next destination, Manuel Antonio National Park, which is located on the Pacific coast. Check in at Hotel Mandarina after driving for 5 hours. You are free for the reminder of the day.

You have some free time in the morning. We recommend you to take a guided nature walk in the national park. Although spread out over just 900 hectares of area, including 12 islands in its vicinity, Manuel Antonio National Park is the most visited conservation area in the country.

Appreciate the park’s importance as a transition zone where a tropical dry forest and a rainforest meet. See mangrove wetlands and visit one of the most beautiful beaches on the Pacific coast. The park is abundant in wildlife. You might come across sloths, raccoons, armadillos, iguanas and monkeys of various species (capuchin, squirrel and howler monkeys are the most common). The park is also rich when it comes to birds, with more than 350 species of birds having been reported there.

Return to your hotel by midday and check out by 1:30 pm. Transfer to San Jose and check in at Hotel Villa Tournon. You are free upon reaching the capital to explore the city and enjoy its nightlife.
