Start in San Jose and end in Antigua, the "Central American Highlights" trip is a guided active and outdoor trip that takes 16 days. You will visit Copan, Antigua, Panajachel and 8 other destinations in 4 different countries. "Central American Highlights" is a small group trip which will include accommodation, transport, meals and others. See below for further details.

Discover five diverse countries in this fast paced two-week adventure through Central America. Search for wildlife in Costa Rica, learn about the history of the Maya in Copan, Honduras, and get an insight into local Guatemalan life at Lake Atitlan. This region has everything to offer with fascinating history, rich culture, incredible volcanic landscapes and abundant wildlife.

Volcanoes - Active and dormant volcanoes pepper this region. Discover the impressive cones overlooking the picture perfect city of Antigua, Guatemala, and see lava glow in Nicaragua's Masaya volcano

Land of the Maya - Take in the sights and smells of the indigenous market at Chichicastenango and the villages around Lake Atitlan, where the modern day Maya culture still thrives

Suchitoto - Enjoy the charms of this pretty colonial town beside the shores of Lake Suchitlan, and take the opportunity to learn the art of pupusa-making - an El Salvadorean speciality

CANCELLATION

No additional cancellation fees apply for this Central American Highlights tour. You can cancel the tour up to 63 days prior departure and avoid paying the full amount, but your deposit paid is non-refundable. No refund applies for cancellations within 62 days of departure.

Payment

For any tour departures within 20 June 2024, full payment is required. For tours that depart later than 20 June 2024, a deposit of 10% is required to confirm this tour, and the remaining balance will be charged 62 days before trip departure.

Travel Insurance

Central American Highlights tour requires that you have adequate and valid travel insurance covering medical and personal accidents, including repatriation costs and emergency evacuation. World Nomads offers travel insurance for independent travelers and intrepid families.

Visa

For this Central American Highlights tour getting the required visa(s) is the responsibility for each individual traveller, as visa requirements vary depending on your nationality. We recommend to check with your local embassies representing the countries that you are traveling to, as part of this itinerary.

For Solo Travelers

A twin share room may not always be available for solo travelers as it depends on the final number of people on the tour. If you have picked twin share room while booking, and that option is not available, we will get back to you after booking. A single room might then be available against an additional fee.

COVID-19 Safety Measures

The average size of this tour is just 12 people.
Rigorous hygiene safety measures will be followed in transportation, accommodation and meal venues.
All travellers 18 years and older will be required to be either fully vaccinated atleast 14 days prior to departure or have taken a negative test (rapid antigen or PCR) within 72 hours of departure.
