Great trip, lots of variety in accommodation from lodges, luxury tents to serviced camping. Our guide was amazing and managed to track and find lots of animals although luck has a lot to do with it! Visiting a range of reserves in Botswana, we had the opportunity to see lots of different landscapes/vegetation and species. Recommend layers for wearing on 4WD as it is cold in the morning and trip does include some long drives in open sided vehicle. Note, there's opportunity to buy drinks for the 5 nights camping and cooler in 4WD. Water and hot drinks provided. The food during the camping and stay on houseboat was lovely. Houseboat rooms are small and hot as windows/doors don't have flyscreens. Long drive through Namibia which includes 3 border crossings, we were lucky on our trip and all went relatively smoothly, would've been nice to have a nights stay in Namibia to visit one of its parks and not have so much travel and stress for guide.

We saw a T-shirt in Africa that said “it’s not a holiday, it’s an adventure!“ This sums up exactly what this trip is about. Although it took some stamina to camp the entire time and the bus trips were long to get from destination to destination, this was an adventure like no other. Spinning, two nights roughing it in Okavango Delta was magical and we heard lions roaring at night. Our guides were outstanding and the food was better than I could possibly expect, especially since our cook did it all in a campground the safari walks and drives did not disappoint! Because we were there in July, the nights were bitterly cold, but we stayed cozy in the tents. This is definitely a trip for those seeking authentic adventure, but not for those who are uncomfortable with idea of sleeping in a tent for 10 days. Our Guide Pappy was, always so patient and so thorough with all of us and was a wealth of knowledge about the region. I love this trip, but it definitely is not for those unused to roughing it or are expecting luxury.

Overall the experience was amazing … as you can check and see we did multiple back to back tours and got an awesome appreciation for the countries and cultures we got to experience. Note there was a 2 week gap in the middle where we travelled with Rovos Rail which contributed to our overall experience but the NatGeo/GAd included village visits etc that allowed us to be up close and personal with people to appreciate their lifestyle.

I absolutely would recommend this trip to anyone. It is a very active tour because you are on the go all of the time, but we saw and experienced so much. I got just enough of a taste to want to return. I would also recommend adding at least a day, or two, before and after the tour.
