Nairobi National Park ranks among Africa’s most accessible wildlife experiences, offering the chance to spot some of the continent’s most iconic species in as little as a half-day trip from downtown Nairobi. Explore on a safari tour, enjoy picnic sites and campsites, and hike an assortment of walking trails in this nature escape. Half-day tours allow visitors to drive through the park’s grass plains with the capital’s skyscrapers as a backdrop, spotting endangered animal species in their natural habitat. It’s also possible to visit on a more comprehensive Nairobi tour to also see nearby highlights such as the David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage, the Giraffe Center, the Karen Blixen Museum, and the Nairobi National Museum.
Enjoy a full-day safari tour of Lake Nakuru National Park, home to one of the most remarkable wild bird populations in all of Africa. Get up close with the wildlife on a game viewing drive, and be on the lookout for the park's amazing flamingos.0600-0700hrs After picking you up early in the morning from your hotel in Nairobi we will depart on our 2.5-hour drive towards Lake Nakuru National Park, including a stop a the Lake Nakuru viewing point.
On arrival at the Lake Nakuru park you will embark on a game-viewing drive, with a chance to see some of Kenya's remarkable birdlife on the beautiful lakes of the Rift Valley. Keep your eye open for other animals grazing along the shoreline, including some of Africa’s famous safari animals.
Lake Nakuru has earned its fame as the home of the greatest bird spectacle in the world, a myriad of often more than a million pink flamingos that flock to feed at its shallow warm waters.
After our morning trip through the park enjoy lunch at one of the lodges before we leave for another game viewing drive.
Depending on how much wildlife is we come across, we will leave the park between 15:00 and 16:00 to arrive back in Nairobi between 18:00 and 19:00 and we drop you at your hotel. Don’t miss this opportunity to get up close with some of Kenya’s most amazing birds and other wildlife.
Feel free to combine this tour with dinner at the Carnivore Restaurant.
Start your day with a 6:30AM pickup from your Nairobi hotel. Head over to the Nairobi National Park, the most accessible of all of Kenya's parks. See the rhinos, lions, leopards, buffalo, and 450 species of birds as you tour.
Next stop is the world famous David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage from 11:00AM – 12:00PM to meet a herd of baby elephants and learn about the work done to rescue them from poachers. The orphanage successfully raises milk-dependent baby elephant and rhino orphans. During your hour there, the baby elephants will be brought out to play and feed as you watch them from behind a rope.
You will then be driven to the Giraffe Center to get up close and personal with Rothschild giraffes, Africa's tallest mammals. Here you will ascend up to an observation platform where you can meet giraffes at their eye level. Pet, stroke, scratch and feed them, and if you are brave you can even kiss them.
After the morning excitement, we visit Karen Blixen Coffee Garden for a delicious lunch of international standard. Relax in the shady garden and enjoy a selection of high-quality international cuisine.
After lunch you will be dropped off to your Nairobi Hotel.
You begin your trip with a visit of to the Giraffe Center, the headquarter for the African Fund for Endangered Wildlife made famous by 'Daisy Rothschild', a giraffe calf rescued from Soi, on the Western Kenya border. Daisy and her family form only a small part of a herd of these gentle giants, living in a semi wild state at Giraffe Manor. These animals will come to a protective wall to be fed.
Make most use of your visit when you go to the Giraffe center nature trail up until the Gogo river. This is what most people don't get to see and it's a fascinating place to walk in the nature, with bushes on either side and birds giving the most wondrous songs. Reach down to the river and search for giraffes in the wild. The trail will take about 1 hour going up and down in a relaxing pace.
You then drive to Karen Blixen's home, "Mbogani House", made famous by the film 'Out of Africa'. It has been restored by the Danish Community of Kenya, and comes under the umbrella of the National Museums of Kenya. Karen Blixen lived in the house from 1917 but in 1931 her farm had to be sold and she left Kenya. Inside the house you can see the books and cuckoo clock which were presented to the museum from the sets of the film.
From the garden you can enjoy the magnificent views of the Ngong Hills and at the front of the house look out for the original millstone tables from which she conducted so much of her farm business. Leaving the Museum, drive or walk a short distance to Kazuri Ltd where a team of African women offer paints and necklaces.
