Romania Tour Reviews

4.6 - Excellent Based on 46 customer reviews
Winter in Transylvania Reviewed Tour: Winter in Transylvania
4 - Very Good
“An interesting and varied trip but forget the ice hotel !”
Winter in Transylvannia Reviewed Tour: Winter in Transylvania
4 - Very Good
“Scenery was very picturesque, both in the towns and in the countryside. All administrative arrangements proceeded without any hitches. The tour provided a good varied programme of city tours and countryside walks. We were given a good sampling of food.”
Beautiful Transylvania Reviewed Tour: Winter in Transylvania
3 - Average
“Beautiful mountains, giggles and too much schnapps! Despite being a warm winter for Romania, we had a wonderful time exploring traditional villages, crumbling churches and the beautiful Balaea Lac.”
Winter in Transylvania-without snow! Reviewed Tour: Winter in Transylvania
5 - Excellent
“Despite a lack of snow this was an excellent trip with a really good group and great guide. The trip provided plenty of variety-some lovely towns, a great walk, plenty of tasty food, etc.”
Cycle Romania Reviewed Tour: Cycle Romania
5 - Excellent
“This is an excellent, well-organized tour with a good balance of cycling and culture.”
Cycling in Romania Reviewed Tour: Cycle Romania
5 - Excellent
“I have been on a number of Exodus cycling holidays but this was one of the best. The cycling was just right with a number of modest climbs but the countryside is so beautiful and unspoilt with so much to see. Mountains, wild flowers, wildlife, forests, herds of sheep and cattle. Also a lot to learn about the history of Romania which explains the fortified churches, the hilltop citadels, the extraordinary palaces, the legacy of the Soviet era. A brilliant holiday.”
Cycling in Transylvania Reviewed Tour: Cycle Romania
5 - Excellent
“This trip gives you the ability to time travel. Starting in modern Bucharest, which has architecture and a street plan that made it worthy of the nickname 'the little Paris', then blighted by a communist period but is now gradually recovering. But the time travel really begins as the cycle tour winds its way on quiet country roads through peaceful villages which have some modern conveniences but otherwise haven't changed much in a hundred years. At times it is hard to get used to the quiet, but then the silence is broken by a chorus of barking dogs in the distance and roosters crowing in the next farmyard. Much history is covered during this week, with daily sessions to explain the progression of the various peoples that have struggled over this strategically useful territory. We visited many Saxon fortified churches from the 14th century.”
Stunningly beautiful Reviewed Tour: Transylvania Winter Walk & Snowshoe
4 - Very Good
“From start to finish the trip was great. Overnighted at a hotel just outside Heathrow. British Airways flight from Terminal 5 couldn't have been better. BA really efficient and comfortable; Terminal 5 speedy, efficient and without hassle. Thomas, the group leader met us in Bucharest airport and the first clue about what was to come came when he announced we transfer from the mini coach to two 4x4 minibuses to ascend to the hotel. Katharine, the owner/manager of the hotel was superb. All staff were very friendly, serving excellent food and the accommodation was nice and cosily comfortable. The snowshoeing was lovely, we were blessed with good weather and in the first part of the week temperatures of about -10C/-15C which meant light fluffy snow. The walking was at times quite demanding and having undertaken the Finland trip previously (moderate) I felt Transylvania was a good moderate. I'd never visited Romania before nor the Carpathian mountains. Romania was unspoiled, "untouristy" and the mountains were beautiful. I'd happily return to the area in the Spring or Autumn to see another season. There were some serious climbers in our group, a number of whom were eager to come back and "do" some of the peaks/ridges. The whole group, which had quite an age range, got on well together with no awkward moments.”
Snowshoeing Transylvania Reviewed Tour: Transylvania Winter Walk & Snowshoe
4 - Very Good
“I thought this was generally an excellent holiday. I loved Transylvania, the countryside, and mountain views and being able to walk and snowshoe in such a beautiful area. The hotel was excellent and Katharina was a very generous and involved hostess. The food was always wonderful. We were also lucky to have such a friendly and happy group. Everyone got on well and there was no-one left out and no awkward moments.”
