Puerto Maldonado Tour Reviews

Interactive and fun

  • Hayley P.
“I have never done a trip with a tour group before and I was pleasantly surprised. To be honest, I had imagined long white buses full of people taking terrible pictures out of windows. I loved that we were a small group, could decide where to go, where to stop, where to eat, etc. This is definitely the way to do it because the trip was more meaningful and personalised and we got to know each other and were able to spend more time with Aldo asking questions and telling stories.”
Inca Trail and Amazon Adventure

“This is an amazing trip visiting Cuzco, 5 days Inca trail including a night in a hotel in Aguas Calientes and 3 nights in Tambopata province (Amazon region) of Peru. My Son (12) and I had a fantastic adventure, thanks to all the hard work of our tour leader, porters and local guides. We were in a great company too, our lovely family group consisting of three other families. ”
Everything was wonderful!

“From the very first email and phone call Steve and Katy were warm, reassuring, understanding, above all professional and obviously extremely well informed. A huge thank you to our guide Aldo who must be the kindest, most patient man on the face of the earth (and probably the best informed on the Inca empire too!) Everything on this trip was just wonderful, so much so that it has changed maybe forever my view on international travel I am already thinking about where our next family trip will be! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!”

Puerto Maldonado - Tour Highlights and Travel Tips

As the gateway to the Amazon, tours to Puerto Maldonado has recently begun a period of development thanks to the increasing number of tourists arriving in search of a jungle experience. • Watch the never-ending succession of weird and wonderful river traffic make its way down the Río Madre de Dios at the ferry dock of the same name.
  • The Obelisco is the closest thing to a skyscraper in this part of the world. At 30 meters high, it is just tall enough to afford you a perfect view of Puerto Maldonado and the vast jungle in the distance.
  • See the snaking form of Río Madre de Dios from the lush Plaza Grau.
  • Peruse the Puerto Maldonado market for local produce and wares.
  • Visit Collpa de la Cachuela, a clay lick just 20 minutes by boat from Puerto Maldonado. Hundreds of Macaws and other Amazonian natives feed off of the clay here.
