  • Beautiful Dhaulagiri & Annapurna Range View.
The Ghorepani Poon Hill trek is a 4 – 5 days hike in the Annapurna mountain range in Nepal. It takes a moderate level of fitness to complete, and the max elevation is 3,210 meters (so there’s no real risk of altitude sickness).

The highlight is reaching Poonhill at 3,210 meters giving you a 360-degree panoramic view of the Annapurna mountain range, Mt. Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchhre and other majestic mountains. We will hike up poonhill early morning and see a fantastic sunrise over the Himalayan mountain range.

The itinerary travels many villages and settlements of different ethnic and cultural groups (primarily Gurung, Tamang, Chhetri and Tibetan), offering the possibility of authentic discovery of traditional Nepal. This short trek will therefore not only provide you with a great trekking trail, but also a lot of cultural inputs.

The Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek can be done al year round, but in the thick of winter, it will be quite cold for the trail. The best seasons are March to May and October to November.

Should you have any doubt to your physical fitness, we recommend you to employ the services of 1 porter who can carry up to 30 kgs. We are looking forward to providing you with a fantastic trip in Nepal.

Great first step into the Anapurna region
Although we had to shorten the trek due to Corona, it was a great first step into this fascinating landscape, and we experienced true friendship to our excellent guides Shantosh and Dipak. We will be back for more!

Ghorepani Poonhill Trek with Outshine Adventures
Excellent experience! Very good for the first trek in the Himalayas, I would definitely recommend. Amazing views, local life, lots of stairs... ;) But you don't need to be super fit to do this trek. Everything worked like a charm... Read more

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS Find answers to the most frequently asked questions about this tour.
  • What is the required budget for a trip to Nepal?

How much you spend in Nepal is largely decided by things you want to do in the country. A 5-day trekking trip in Nepal can start from as little at USD 400 per person. A weekend-long safari in Chitwan National Park is available at less than USD 200.

On average, seven days in Nepal with accommodation and some or all meals included costs anywhere between USD 700 to USD 1500 per person. Good rooms at hotels in Nepal range from USD 25 to over USD 150 per person, per night, while around USD 1.5 a day can buy you three meals in decent restaurants.

  • Is a visa on arrival available?

Typically, yes. However, in response to the current Covid situation, rules for arriving visitors may change frequently and sometimes without notice. It may be necessary to obtain a tourist visa in your own country before travel. For updated information on visas, please check the Nepal Tourism Board and the Government of Nepal Immigration websites.

  • How does it work with a porter?

Generally, the porter will pick up the baggage in the morning and drop it at the hotel in the evening. You will not always be walking with your porter or have access to your bag during the day, while trekking.

  • Is Asia open for tourists?

Despite the initial fears of the Covid-19 pandemic, most Asian countries have managed to mitigate its effects. As such, many popular destinations throughout the continent are currently open for travelers with precautionary measures like mandatory vaccinations. A few countries, however, require newly arrived travelers to spend a couple of days in quarantine.

As of February 2022, countries like Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia are officially open for vaccinated tourists without the need for quarantine. Meanwhile, India and Indonesia are two of the countries that may require you to quarantine for up to a week on arrival. However, Japan, Vietnam, and Myanmar are yet to open their doors to visitors.

  • How much money do I need to bring with me?

Your personal budget obviously depends on your spending habits and what is included in your trip cost. If accommodation is included, but meals are not, we would suggest that you bring around 30 USD per day per person for meals. Having a hot shower or charging your device sometimes costs extra. There are also sometimes small crafts/souvenirs to buy along the trekking route which you may want to bring extra money for. Also, consider whether you would be staying in Kathmandu or Pokhara before or after your trek.
