Bhutan is well-known for some of the best and most exciting trekking trails in the Himalayan region. Many tourists visit Bhutan to explore the untouched beauty of the mountains – best experienced on foot. The Druk Path trek is one of the finest short trekking routes in Bhutan. Connecting the valleys of Paro and Thimpu, the trail leads over high passes on an ancient trading route, passing through spectacular rhododendron forests, alpine yak pastures and beautiful lakes stocked with snowy mountain trout.

The trek begins via apple orchards and pine forests past a ruined Jele Dzong (fortress), which sits on a high grassy ridge overlooking breathtaking views of Mount Jumolhari to the north. In the next four days, we climb above the tree line and cross several passes including the Phume La (4210m). En route, we come across amazing clear mountain lakes, a number of yak herder’s camps and the splendid view of the Himalayas. At the end of the trail, descend through the pine and juniper forests via Phadjoding monasteries and head to the capital of Bhutan.

“Raj was a fantastic guide! I was conveniently picked up at my hotel at the time of my choosing. Raj was very considerate and used the air conditioning when the air quality was poor on the drive. Changu Narayan was a beautiful historic temple. Raj was very knowledgeable regarding the history of the temple. We continued on to hike up to Nagarkot with fantastic views of the Kathmandu valley. I was a single female traveler, and felt completely comfortable with Raj and his kind driver, Hari. We ate lunch with deepak at a local Thakali restaurant in Thamel at the end of trip, and tge food was superb.
Thanks again Raj, for a wonderful day!”

“Amazing friendly experience! Jaya my guide and Bimal my porter just gave me a great trekking experience during 5 days in the Pokhara area. I also then had a great connection to Chitwan. I recommend Thirdpole for any hiking excursion if you wish to have an authentic Nepali friendly experience!”
Tara's review for another Adventure Thirdpole (P) Ltd tour

“I loved this trek! This was my first trek in Nepal, but has not been my last.
It has tremendous variety - Tibetan culture in Tamang, a mountainous valley in Langtang (and an incredible day hike at the end!), and then Tibetan Buddhist temples through Gosainkunda, down to lower elevations and rhododendrons. Truly, you can see such a variety of Nepalese beauty and culture. As a bonus, this trek is accessed by surface from KTM, so no worries about weather delays for flights. Perfect if your timelines are tight, and you cannot afford to get stuck waiting for weather!”
3 Star Hotel
The flight into Paro (2280m/7524ft) on Druk air is spectacular. In the clear weather, magnificent views of the world’s highest peaks give way to the verdant green of the Paro valley. The first gift from Bhutan is cool, clean fresh air as we step from the plane. After clearing customs and visa control, we are met by our guide and then drive a short distance to your hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure with a walk through the main street of Paro.

Dinner and overnight at Paro.
3 hours 3 Star Hotel
After breakfast, we drive the winding road to the Drukgyal Dzong, the ruined fort, which once defended this valley from Tibetan invasions. Mount Chomolhari can be seen on a clear day from Drukgyal village.

Visit a typical Bhutanese farmhouse of a local family for a close up view of everyday Bhutanese life. We then drive to Shari to hike up (or horse ride) to the Taktsang monastery (Tiger’s nest). The horse ride up or hike to the cafeteria will take around one and half hour. At the view point enjoy the stunning view of the monastery, where Guru Padmasambhava landed on the back of a tigers in the 8th century. After lunch at the café, we walk back to the road point. On our way back to the hotel we visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest temple in Bhutan built in 7th century.

Leisure time, then dinner and stay overnight at hotel in Paro.
