Other Practical Information IS THIS TRIP RIGHT FOR YOU? ⚫ Bhutan is a fairly new country welcoming tourists. In recent years, the country introduced itself to international tourism with the ‘High Value, Low Volume’ tourism policy. ⚫ Bhutan has a great attachment with its highly-protected cultural heritage and natural environment. Bhutanese people are highly welcoming and genuinely nice people. However, there are cultural aspects that are a little sensitive and considered a social taboo. We recommend you grasp yourself with such sensitive issues. Following are some tips for your cultural tour in Bhutan. ⚫ Stay away from the country’s political issues. Never pass negative comments on religion, the royal family, and the head monk. ⚫ Pointing sacred items or paintings is considered disrespectful in Bhutan; you should use your chin to point. ⚫ Sitting on carved stones is not only considered impolite, but it’s taken as a humiliation to culture in Bhutan. ⚫ Always make sure to ask your guide before taking photographs inside religious temples and monasteries. ⚫ Do not photograph any Bhutanese person without their prior consent. ⚫ Smoking is illegal in public areas. ⚫ Swimming or throwing stones, sticks, or anything into lakes and rivers is forbidden – it is believed to disturb the souls of deities. ⚫ Bhutanese are known to consider their natural environment as a heavenly gift, so make sure not to litter anywhere. ⚫ Be courteous with older people and treat them with respect. ⚫ Do not feed birds or animals while visiting the natural sites. COVID-19 SAFETY MEASURES We operate this trekking trip by containing the following COVID-19 safety protocols: ⚫ This trip abides to all the updated safety guidelines for travelers, as issued by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the local authorities of the three nations. ⚫ The tour will be operated by adopting COVID-19 health and hygiene global standardized protocols. ⚫ A group will be limited to not more than 6 trekkers, for now, with concerns about COVID-19 safety for all travelers. ⚫ We have prioritized hygiene protocols on the entire trip encouraging travelers to mask up, wash hands regularly, sanitize and practice physical distancing as much as possible.
