Its mountainous terrain is capped by towering Himalayas and dotted with Buddhist hamlets, and yet surprisingly close to the capital. Your journey starts in Kathmandu. Take the bus to Syabrubesi, the starting point of this tour. Hike up to Kyanjin Gompa, a quaint ethnic Tamang village dominated by Chorkari RI (5,050 meters), which is the highest point of your journey. This trek is for those who want to see the Himalayas in the Everest region without the risk of altitude sickness. Traveling east of Kathmandu, you will reach Pikey Base Camp on the second day. The view from the base camp is stunning, and the distance between the mountains and the trail means a wider panorama to feast your eyes on. You will pass through a rhododendron forest as you make your way to Bhangyang. The trail from the base camp to Junbesi is fairly easy but then gets steep as you ascend to Taksindu. You will also have to cross the Junbesi River. Spend a night in Phaplu before returning to the capital city.
