“My tour with Urban Adventures was a great one! I signed up for the Istanbul Uncovered tour at the last minute (late the night before), which was really easy to do on their website. I enjoyed not having to organize everything well in advance if I didn't yet know my plans and being able to do everything seamlessly online. Unfortunately for me, there was a sudden snow storm overnight and the city was a nightmare to get around in its wake. My guide, Pinor, very kindly called me the morning of to ask if I wanted to reschedule my tour, but because I was already on my way to the meeting point and leaving Istanbul the next day, I requested we move forward with the tour. She could have just said no because the weather-affected traffic made it too difficult to reach me, but she didn't. Her kindness and determination to make it to the meeting point on time were incredibly admirable. She even called me a few times to give me updates on how soon she would arrive! Despite the snow bearing down on us, Pinor still gave a top-notch tour. She tried to take me down as many of the paths that are included in the tour when Istanbul ISN'T freezing over and did her best to deviate the tour when necessary while still showing me the highlights. Her knowledge of the sites was enviable. I wish I could know as much as she does! Given that the tour was one-on-one, I felt really comfortable asking her all sorts of questions, ranging from things we were looking at to aspects of Turkish daily life. My only suggestion would be that the walk through the Grande Bazaar was more than just that: a walk through. We went in one side and out the other in under five minutes. If we could have wondered the streets a bit more and heard about the culture of the Bazaar, or perhaps stopped to take a coffee/tea in one of the cafes inside the Bazaar, it would have made the site feel more authentic. Though I understand that once you've seen one rug shop, you've seen them all, so there might not be much to examine in-depth. Thank you Pinor for your amazing tour and your ability to put up with that horrible, rare weather! You made my otherwise iffy time in Istanbul (stupid snow!) an experience to remember.”
ITINERARY

With the success of the hit musical Hamilton, we’ve created a very special private tour to help people understand how an illegitimate immigrant finds his way to New York, remakes himself, and becomes one of our most brilliant, charismatic, and controversial founding fathers! Walk in the footsteps of Alexander Hamilton through New York City’s oldest neighborhood, the financial district, and discover how this famous New Yorker has his fingerprints on nearly every landmark these streets have to offer.

Your adventure with a local guide by your side begins at Trinity Church, where Hamilton was buried as a result of one of the darkest days in American political history. Learn how Hamilton arrived in America on the eve of a revolution and quickly became one of the most influential minds of his day, only to be shot dead before his 50th birthday.

We’ll stop by Zuccotti Park and uncover how more recent revolutionary movements like Occupy Wall Street trace their roots to Hamilton’s ambitious plans for American prosperity.

Next, we’ll learn how Hamilton’s role as America’s first Secretary of the Treasury ultimately led to the creation of the New York Stock Exchange. Across the street sits Federal Hall, where Hamilton looked on as George Washington was sworn in as our nation's’ first president and where he served in the first cabinet

We’ll then check out the two Wall Street skyscrapers that still stand as reminders of the epic feud between Hamilton and Burr, one emblazoned with the name of one of our more recent politicians and local celebrities, Donald Trump.

Finally, we’ll make our way down the first paved street in New York City to one of the oldest bars in town where Hamilton himself used to drink with George Washington, and we’ll raise our own glass to freedom and to Hamilton.

Along the entire route we will discover not only Hamilton’s history in New York but also how he came to epitomize the American Dream, created the modern world we live in today, inspired many of our wealthy leaders who continue to shape the city and world, and finally, how he wrestled with the questions of wealth, privilege, and power in ways that are just as relevant today as they were in the 1700s.

(If you’d prefer to travel as part of a regular group experience, please book our Hamilton Happy Hour group tour.) This tour is priced for a minimum group size of two travellers. A solo traveller may still book this private experience but will be charged the base rate for two travellers.
