The Private New York: Half Day NYC Food & Beer History Tour tour starts and ends in New York. The Private New York: Half Day NYC Food & Beer History Tour is a food tour that takes 7.5 hours.

New York City is a city built by and inhabited by immigrants. To this day, immigrants outnumber native-born New Yorkers and they continue to shape the city. This private tour experience explores the legacy of those immigrants through their food and beer, and visits two classic immigrant neighborhoods, the Lower East Side and Williamsburg. Not only are those areas rich in history but they are two of New York’s most popular neighborhoods today, full of great food and drink and catering to new, well-to-do immigrants. We’ll give you the whole history of New York as an immigrant city and fill your belly with their brews and bites.
This tour is priced for a minimum group size of two travellers. A solo traveller may still book this private experience but will be charged the base rate for two travellers.

ITINERARY

Make the most of NYC! This Total Immigrant Tour combines two of our most popular adventures (Tenements, Tales, and Tastes and Brewed in Brooklyn) into one epic all-day adventure.

Get in touch with the tasty culture of NYC on a culinary journey around the city that starts off at a location where many new citizens are made official, City Hall. Here at the northern edge of the colonial city we’ll start our journey with a delicious Dutch breakfast treat, just one of many foods that has made its way over thanks to the immigrant population in NYC.

Next up on your private tour, we’ll make our way in a loop around the NYC LES, visiting 100-year old bakeries, churches, markets, and historic sites.  We’ll stroll the streets of Little Italy just as Lucky Luciano might have a century ago, walk through the crowded streets of Chinatown, and marvel at former and still operating synagogues and Jewish clothing stores.

As we walk, we'll stop to sink our teeth into amazing stories and amazing food.  Knishes, tacos, dumplings, and more.  We’ll taste why New York City is the center of the world and the culinary legacy left here by those that have passed by Lady Liberty on their way to the American Dream.

Once you have had enough to eat, it's time to toast our way through the past and present of beer brewing in Brooklyn! Once home to 48 breweries, this ancient trade disappeared from the borough in the 1970s, only to be reborn in recent years with craft breweries leading the way. If you want a taste (quite literally...) of the history behind beer brewing in New York, look no further!

We'll take a behind-the-scenes local look at how beer is made at one of Brooklyn's present-day breweries. Explore the pre-prohibition era as we check out 19th-century brewery buildings, visit a landmarked building, and share stories of the German immigrants who lived and worked in the neighborhood.

Plus, don’t forget all the craft beer and food along the way! We’ll enjoy a number of great Brooklyn brews and stop off at a local pizza joint.

Join us as we raise a glass to the history and masters of beer!
