Starting in New Delhi and ending in Kolkata, the tour Rajasthan, The South & The Ghats is a guided cultural, religious and historic sites trip that takes 52 days. You will travel through Mandu, Puri, Mumbai and 24 other destinations in India. Rajasthan, The South & The Ghats is a group tour which includes accommodation, transport, meals and others.

This is an Indian road journey combining some of India's real highlights such as Udaipur, Delhi, Jaisalmer and Mumbai, with some of the off the beaten track hidden gems. Hampi and Mandu are two of India's remarkable ghost cities and because they lie beyond the reach of your average visitor, they are rather exclusive.

But a road journey is not just about driving and there is plenty of relaxed beach time in both Kerala and Goa as well as desert camel trips, national parks full of wildlife as well as a quintessential Indian train journey into the cool climes of the highlands and tea plantations around Ooty. Then of course, there are boat trips along the backwaters of Kerala, village life and home stays and the inevitable colour and hustle and bustle of India, culminating in the chaos that is Kolkata.

The highlight of this journey though is the five days exploring the tribal lands of Odisha, away from the norms of Indian life.

“We enjoyed the companionship of travelling with a group of other passengers, the mucking in element, the relative freedom to do your own thing, whilst under the overall structure of an Itenary and a Team Leader to organise the trip.”

Local Payment The local payment is a group fund, paid separately from the trip price on the first day of the tour. It covers everything that the group does together on the ground. This is primarily hotel accommodation and campsite fees, meals whilst camping (but not while eating in restaurants), and included activities and puts money directly back to the local community. The local payment, or kitty system, is unique to overlanding tours and provides maximum flexibility and best value on the road - you can see exactly what is being paid for, you get everything at cost price, it keeps costs competitive by leveraging group expenses and saves on administrative costs. The fund is run by the tour guide, and any excess left over at the end is returned equally to the group. Local prices are estimated in USD when we print the brochure then reviewed monthly as local costs and exchange rates vary throughout the year. It's therefore important once you book your trip to check the website regularly and just before departure for any changes to the amount.
