“Having only arrived 7 hours before my "Let Yangon Take You For A Ride" tour was set to start, I was a bit nervous that my jet lag would get the best of me. But it turned out to be the perfect experience for my first day in Myanmar. Although culturally intensive, the lazy train ride through urban then suburban landscapes, villages and agricultural areas was beautiful. Thura was early and eager to get going. As the only one on the tour, I was privileged to get his full attention and get a chance to ask all my burning questions. He's passionate and proud of his country, open and honest, fluent and well-spoken. It was a real pleasure to spend the day with him - like hanging out with a local friend. This tour is the ultimate local experience. I didn't see a single tourist during the whole trip and I loved taking on local transit, being thrown into the middle of an abundant, lively vegetable market, and getting to have my first taste of delicious Burmese food. This tour really inspired the theme for my trip, which started that evening - to paraphrase Henry Miller, "Burma is not a place, but a new way of seeing things".”

“Guide could be better in announcing "the next step" e.g. now we will go do this. Guide gave a summary in the morning (which was also slightly confusing as it was unsure what the itinerary was and he made it sound we would work out on the way). Also we had zero interest in souvenir shops and mentioned this and still were taken through to some souvenir shop/areas. The actual points of interest were good, interesting and well explained”

“"Let Yangon take you for a ride" was a fantastic way to get a glimpse of the different aspects of life in Yangon, from the hustle and bustle of downtown, the nuances of suburbia, the serenity of rural life and the frenetic experience that was the vegetable market at Danyingon. Our local guide Myo ensured that it was not just a day sitting on a train, by providing insight into life in Yangon, navigating monsoon showers and keeping us well watered and fed. The most charming surprise was an email several days later complete with photos of our day - thank you so much!”
