Beer permeates life in Bavaria and our tour teaches you the history of what has always been considered liquid bread and an important source of nutrition for the locals. Starting with a Tour and tasting at the Beer and Oktoberfest in downtown Munich, we will explore the history of beer and its importance in the development of Munich’s history. A trained and certified Diplom Biersommelier offers you an exclusive tour inside Munich’s beer scene. Learn about the history and customs as you enjoy Munich’s most influential beverage. After the Museum, we will explore some of Munich’s most beloved and historic beer halls, pubs and/or beer gardens. As we walk, you’ll come to realize that the story of Munich’s beer is interwoven with its political history.
During the tour, you’ll learn about the following:
> Culture and etiquette of the Bavarian “Wirtshaus.”
> The history of brewing in Munich. A private tour through the Bier and Oktoberfest Museum is included (not in Sundays). Based in Munich’s oldest surviving house from the 1340’s, it’s been painstakingly restored by the Augustiner Foundation
> Bavarian Beer Styles: Helles, Dunkles, Hefe-Weizen, Bock and more
> Beer and Glass culture
> Beer & Food pairings – Main courses, cheeses, desserts, etc.
