  • Reach the highest point in Africa

Grab this opportunity to reach the highest point in Africa. This seven-day, guided trek takes you to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest peak on the African continent, via the Lemosho route. This route is preferred by most travelers due to its beautiful scenery and a high summit-success rate.

Your journey starts with a long drive from Moshi to Londorosi Gate. From there you will head for Shita I Camp via Mti Mkubwa Camp and reach the summit of Uhuru on Day 6. Enjoy surreal views of the surrounding landscape and take pictures before traveling back down via Barafu Camp.

The Lemosho route is a long trail as it takes seven to eight days to complete. However, the success rate of this route is over 95 percent, primarily due to acclimatization opportunity that this route provides. This trail allows climbers to experience three different sides of the mountain. It starts from the western side, then goes north and the descent is made via the eastern face of the mountain.

Other Practical InformationHow fit do you have to be to climb Kilimanjaro? Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro is a physical undertaking, so you should prepare yourself accordingly with a Kilimanjaro training program. Being in good shape is important in many respects. Obviously, strong, conditioned legs make it easier to walk uphill and downhill for sustained periods of time. General aerobic fitness allows the body to function efficiently with less oxygen. And a fit body is more likely to withstand the stress of consecutive days of hiking and camping. Finally, a positive mental attitude can work wonders for you when fatigue and doubts arise. So you don't need to be exceptionally fit, but you do need to get your body used to the particular demands of this hike. Otherwise the first days will be so tiring that you will have no energy left when it counts. So, the best Kilimanjaro training is to simply walk. How is Kilimanjaro altitude prepared? You should be aiming to build up hiking from 2 to 5 hours once a week. Hiking up and down hills is important, as this will be what you are doing on Kilimanjaro. You should be building from 500m/ 1,640 feet of elevation in a hike to 1,000m/ 3,280 feet in your weekend hike. Building slowly over months is important. How long should you train for Kilimanjaro? If you aren't already active each day (hiking, walking, or running several miles), if you aren't in great shape it's recommended that you take at least 8 weeks (or 2 months) to train just walk / short running every day. Is Kilimanjaro good for beginners? As we mentioned before, Kilimanjaro is suitable for beginners; they do very well. The best advice is for everyone to arrive in great shape. Don't underestimate the climb because you know someone did it who you believe was not fit. Train for the adventure. What is the best month to climb Kilimanjaro? The best time to climb Kilimanjaro is the months of January through early-March and June through October. The clear skies, great views, and the sunshine make it the best comfortable hiking conditions. However, there is always the possibility of weather changing dramatically, regardless of the season. Should I Get a Medical Check Up? All climbers should have a medical check prior to attempting the mountain. Ask your doctor if high altitude trekking is permissible for your age, fitness level and health condition. Ask if you have any pre existing medical conditions that can cause problems on the climb. Ask if any of your medications can affect altitude acclimatization. Ask whether Diamox can be taken with your existing prescription medicines. If you have any medical issues that can be making climbing Kilimanjaro more dangerous for you than the average person, we need to be informed of this before you book. Such medical issues include but are not limited to: spine problems; circulation problems; internal problems such as diabetes, hypoglycemia, intestinal or kidney problems; high or low blood pressure; head trauma or injury; heart conditions; blood disease; seizure disorders; joint dislocations; sprains; hernia. The minimum age for climbing Mount Kilimanjaro is 10 years old. There is no maximum age. However, the climb is strenuous and presents health risks, especially to people in high risk categories. Serious consideration should be given to anyone under the age of 18 and over the age of 60. The climbers on the extreme ends of the age spectrum should definitely consult their doctor. Our minimum fitness requirements are that each climber must have a resting heart rate of under 100 beats per minute. We will check your resting heart rate before your climb. If your resting heart rate is above 100, you will be required to see a local doctor prior to the climb to get approval. The average resting heart rate is 60-80 beats per minute.
