!We recommend this program only to professional hikers, as the 5-day option does not provide sufficient acclimatization for beginners. The success rate of the 5-day Marangu route is 45%. A 6-day option is recommended instead.

Marangu route is one of the most popular on Mount Kilimanjaro, and the only one where the climbers can rest in the huts with bunk beds (not in tents). This helps to somewhat reduce the cost of the climb, as no tents and, therefore, fewer porters are needed. Besides, some might feel more comfortable sleeping in a hut rather than in a tent when it rains.

This well-trodden trail starts at 1,860 m in the tropical rainforest and features beautiful views of the south-eastern slope of Kilimanjaro.

Marangu route advantages:

- Affordability of the climb. Marangu route is the only one providing a unique fusion of wallet-friendly trekking and successful summiting chances.

- The route covers all climate zones of Tanzania from tropical forests to ice slopes of the Kibo glaciers.

Kilimanjaro honeymoon
“My husband and I decided to climb Kilimanjaro as part of our honeymoon trip to Tanzania. Altezza Travel were absolutely brilliant from the word go! Our team, and especially our guides, Rashid and Osmani, went above and beyond to help us reach the summit. They were so friendly, professional and every detail was taken care of - including providing hot water bottles for our sleeping bags in the cold nights. Our guides were only too happy to show us extra insight about the mountain, as well as teaching us some Swahili! We couldn't have made it to the summit without their help and support. All 7 members of the team (porters, chef, waiter, guides) were keen to meet us and even performed a song for us, which was really moving. Although we spent less time with the porters and chef team, when we did see them they were always smiling and keen to talk to us, and did all their tasks with enthusiasm. We would highly recommend Altezza Travel to anyone who dreams of summiting Kilimanjaro - you won't be disappointed! The level of customer service we experienced was outstanding and we cant think of anything that could have been improved. We will have amazing memories of this trip, thank you so much!! it was just wonderful
“Travel with Altezza was wonderful. All was good from the beginning until the end. During the preparation of my Kilimanjaro trip I got in contact with several agencies and finally I have chosen Altezza and Im just happy because I feel I made the correct choice. This 6 days climbing Kilimanjaro Experience by Marangu Route was just a life time experienceIt all was good. All the crew was professional, making medical check-ups twice a day, good food, nice and friendly staff, hot water bag for the cold nights, excellent service and mainly friendly staff talking with us all the way long JA special thank you to our amazing guides Victor and Selemon and without any exception to all members of the crew. Also to Anna, from the Office, that was really helpful and kind.If you are in doubt, I strongly advice Altezza and my guides and their team (victor and Selemon) no make this trip.Cheers”

5 Star Mountain Experience!!
“Transfers, attentiveness, professionalism, name it, Altezza checks off every box. I ( and the other 15 members of our group) were constantly raving of our guides, chefs and porters. They honestly made our climb seem like a 5 star experience on a mountain. From the minute we woke, until we closed our eyes at night, everything was done with consistency and professionalism. The food was different every single day (and so yummy!), our camp sites were always ready for us when we arrived, medical checks were done twice a day, and so much more. Oh, we had hot water-bottle-bunnies given to us each night at bedtime to put in our sleeping bags to keep us warm. Just one more thing we became accustomed to. We knew what to expect every single day due to their communication with us and the overall format they followed. There were many laughs and tears as well left the mountain. We grew close to these men and shared the ups and downs (literally) over the course of 7 days. They aided us in every way possible. They made us feel at home. They sang and danced (for us) and with us, we shared a New Year's cake with them that they carried up the mountain for us.Again, I can go on and on and on.....I own a travel agency and I can not wait to have my clients partner with Altezza.”

Marangu Route - climbing Kilimanjaro
“For our honeymoon, my wife and I decided to climb Mount Kilimanjaro and chose Altezza. We couldn't have chosen any better. The team was extremely profesional: 1 guide per person and 6 porters (including a cook). We were taken care of with a lot of attention, the team treated us really well (including hot water bags before sleeping for the cold, a gentle a nice touch we were not seeing with the other groups). We had medical checks twice per day.We couldn't make it to the summit without the help and care of the guides, Stanley and Rodgers. In the hotel where we stayed before and after the climbing, we had good briefings with Altezza's crew. Also, they offer equipment for rent needed for the climbing, if needed: this were of high quality brands. We highly recommend Altezza, they were awesome!!!!!!”
