Mallorca — Tour Highlights and Travel Tips

If you are wondering where to find miles upon miles of golden sand coast, top-notch hotels and mouthwatering Mediterranean cuisine, look no further than booking your summer holidays in Mallorca (Majorca), the crown jewel of Spanish islands. What’s more, this majestic getaway is much more than just your standard seaside resort – choose a trip to Mallorca and you will also get a chance to witness stunning limestone formations, old stone villages and charming, off-the-beaten-path vineyards.

Tour Highlights

  • Palma the Mallorca, capital of the Balearic Islands, is a mid-sized city which, despite its size, retains its rustic character. Palma de Mallorca also boasts close proximity to several beautiful beaches.
  • Bellver Castle sits atop a hill 3 kilometers from the central part of Palma de Majorca. It is remarkably well-preserved, despite being over six centuries old.
  • Cuevas del Drach, or Dragon Caves, are among the most popular tourist attractions on the island. Featuring fascinating formations and stalactites, at the end of the grottos, you will find Lake Martel, Europe’s biggest underground lake.
  • An impressive example of Gothic architecture, the ornate Palma Cathedral is a gorgeous sandstone construction which is also one of the most important symbols of the island.

Travel Tips

  • The months of July and August mark the peak season in Majorca. This is when the accommodation prices soar and the beaches tend to be tightly packed. If you want to escape the crowds and keep your lodgings wallet-friendly, opt to visit the island in the shoulder months of July and September, when the weather is still swimming-friendly, but crowds thin out.
  • If you want to experience Majorca’s gorgeous natural canvas, try one of hiking trails in Serra de Tramuntana, the mountain range that stretches across the northern coast of the island.
  • If you find yourself in Majorca in August, make sure to visit the Sant Bartomeu Festival, a colorful celebration that takes place in the streets and squares of Sóller, a town on the northwestern coast.
